VHS : The Brothers Karamazov (1958)
I saw this movie many years ago when I was little and liked it right away. It's a classic and I've been searching for a good German and English DVD for years but I found out it's obviously not available on DVD yet which I personally do think is a pity.

VHS : Pray for the Wildcats
For anyone who remembers classic ABC TV Movies Of The Week, "Pray For The Wildcats" will always be THE classic one (along with another Andy Griffith masterpiece, "Savages"). It is my great hope that one day soon, "Pray For The Wildcats" will see a proper DVD release, and I'm sure it would sell thousands of copies. As for the movie itself; If you're reading this review, you already know that this film is genius, because you have seen it. So, please add your own review of "Pray For The Wildcats", and help join the call for a DVD release. And remember: "He just bought himself a long walk home"!........

andrew stevens (son of stella stevens) stars as philip kent in this first mini-series based on the john jakes kent family novels.
stevens is a french boy who learns that he is the title person after finding out that his real father is an english nobelman and heads to england to claim his birthright. his fathers family doesn't intend to let him have anything and tries to have him killed. this causes philip to flee to america, under the name philip kent , and gets him involved in the fight for liberty.
this is a very good show, even if it mainly plays like a soap opera, and stevens is quite good as philip. give this one a chance and you may like it.

VHS : Star Trek - The Original Series, Episode 49: A Piece of the Action
"Tribbles" may be the best known comic episode, but "Piece of the Action" is possibly funnier. McCoy doesn't get to do much but assist the two leads, but the interactions with Kirk and Spock are priceless. Also interesting is the guest-starring role played by Vic Tayback, the sort of character actor (he played crooks and tough guys) one would not normally associate with Star Trek.

While trying to help a planet run by gangsters, Kirk and his two pals are captured repeatedly, until Kirk wises up and decides to out-gangster everyone. The Bosses on the planet stop treating Kirk as a chump once he starts acting tough and says "Look here, da Federation is taking over. We've had it with you penny-ante operators!"

The beauty of this twist is that Kirk for the most part does not depend ... Read More

VHS : Star Trek - The Original Series, Episode 42: The Trouble With Tribbles
This is definitely one of the most humorous of all Star Trek episodes, although I rank it below the original series episode, "A Piece of the Action." It also contains two of the best lines that have ever been uttered in any Star Trek episode.
According to the terms of the Organian peace treaty between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, any uninhabited planet will belong to the side that can make the best case that it can develop it. Sherman's planet is the next planet to be controlled and the Federation is basing its' case on a new strain of wheat. The wheat seed is now being stored on station K7 and the commander has panicked, sending out the highest priority distress signal. The Enterprise responds in full battle mode, only to find that they have been summoned to guard the wheat.
A Klingon ... Read More

The Enterprise is lured to Cestus III and when the landing party materializes on the surface, they find the colony has been destroyed. Shortly after that, the landing party also comes under attack and after some spirited defense by Kirk and his team, the alien ship beams up their landing party and flees the area. Kirk orders pursuit at all costs, and they enter unexplored space where they are immediately scanned by forces on another planet.
The scanning has been done by a very technically advanced species that decides to settle the matter. Kirk and the captain of the Gorn ship are transported to a planet where they will engage in a fight to the death. The only weapons they have will be what they can find, although they were told that each side would be able to find weapons there that will be powerful enough to destroy ... Read More

The first time you watch this episode, it plays as a traditional (though excellent) story. Kirk and Spock solve a puzzling mystery and overcome an alien who has trapped them.

But watching it again recently (and knowing the ending) I was able to see it completely differently. Trelane -- the super-powerful alien in human form who has detained the senior Enterprise officers -- is not the villain at all but is actually the most sympathetic character! Over and over, Trelane eagerly invites the Enterprise officers to "play" and makes them his honored guests. Each time, they refuse him rudely and treat him with fear and contempt (although their actions are completely logical from their point of view). All Trelane's reactions make sense once you know what he's really up to.

That's the genius of the episode. The ... Read More
