Saw this when I was very young, maybe 9 or 10, and it somehow moved me in a visceral way that I simply cannot convey in words. But I never found out what it was called. With the memory of the powerful ending vaguely imprinted on my mind I vowed that I would one day find out the name of this movie. I have been clutching at straws for years trying to figure it out. Only recently did I find out, I'm now 25!

I have used the the Warner Brothers comment system on their website to try push for a DVD release. It MUST happen. AMAZON, if you can hear me, please do ALL you can.

This movie has so many different aspects in it that I wanted to
study it. I have seen it on tv, but there is so many deep messages
in it that I wanted to study it. It is consumed with American culture-
especially from the black perspective. Several times I have discussed
things in the movie with my black friends.

I understand the perspectives of the other online-reviewers; however, being an English teacher, I have found this video to be quite beneficial and complimentary in assisting me and helping my students to understand the characterization and themes in Native Son. It is not an outstanding performance; however, it does offer a color cinematic version, while having actors that are recongnizable to a younger generation.

I do not believe that many outstanding novels can ever really be properly and accurately portryaed on film; that is really a daunting task for directors, writers, and producers. To this date, I can only say that The Color Purple has actually achieved cinematic success, due in large part to the creative genius of Steven Spielberg. That is a rarity.

The collective group of friends who watched this movie with me agreed with the positive ratings of the other reviewers, but there certainly are funnier parts of the movie than they claimed. It's definitely the subtler humor that's more amusing, such as the end of the idiotic love scene in the library or the great opening scene at the pet shop.

This movie is best enjoyed by persons who have also watched and enjoyed such classics as UHF, Army of Darkness, Mr. T's Be Somebody or Be Somebody's Fool, etc., or in other words, by people who enjoy completely ludicrous humor. There's definitely some dull spots to sit through (hence 4 stars) but definitely worth it.

Honor, dignity, duty, baverery. The principles that Louis Thibido (charles Durning) has fought for his entire life. The principles that just might get him killed.

At 19, Thibido was a World War II hero. Now, 42 years later, his chance has come again. Caught innocently in an explosion of neighborhood violence, Thibido is suddenly faced with what could be the last great challenge of his life. Fully aware that his actions may have grave, if not deadly consequences, Thibido relentlessly hunts down his enemies, the vicious neighborhood drug dealers.

I saw this movie maybe 8 times and I loved it. It was so funny that I could not stop laughing. Now that I've seen these other movies like "Blood Dolls" and "Subspecies 4: Bloodstorm" (The one with Ion Haiduc), I still find them all too funny so rent this if you haven't seen this.

I was in college when this came out and Robin's character taught me everything I needed about being sultry.

She is a bad ass bitch in the movie, in the vein of a Pam Grier character. The setting is Harlem, where only the feisty, the sly, and those with panache survive. Robin's portrayal of Immabel as slow-slurring, smooth as butter, carefree but calculating seductress is deftly-done.

She carries the movie well and it's hard to take your eyes off her. This is crucial, because if Immabel wasn't captivating the movie would fall flat. All the drama hinges on the girl and the gold.

There is some annoying, raunchy comedy from some satellite undertakers in the movie. But that's to entertain the droll.

Mostly, this movie is a bodacious gangster caper made lovable by ... Read More
