VHS : Executive Action
I saw 'Executive Action' when it first came out in 1973, and it has stuck with me all these years. It was gone from the theaters pretty fast, and I thought maybe it was "pulled" because of the truth it revealed. So when I stumbled upon it at Amazon, I almost jumped out of my chair.
The part that really stayed with me is at the end when words scroll up listing the odds put out by Lloyd's of London. It's like a trillion to one that all the real people involved in the murder of JFK would meet untimely deaths. It's shocking and something you have to see for yourself.
EA was lost, but now it's found!! Thank you, Amazon. I just purchased it and it will go into my JFK collection..safe and sound.

Although dated, this film is griping and disturbing and should be seen. It needs to be re-released so that it can be seen. Not all people can aford the collector's price of those very few scarce copies that become available.

7.To Please a Lady starring: Clark Gable, Barbara Stanwyck, Adolphe Menjou, Will Geer, Roland Winters

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : To Please a Lady
Barbara Stanwyck stars as a hard-as-nails newspaper/radio columnist who will ruin the career of anyone she deems worthy of it. Her latest victim is Clark Gable, a race car driver she perceives as having no conscience since he has been involved in several accidents. Not surprisingly, once she meets him she falls in love, but can't get past his ruthless nature. Their relationship is not very believable, and the scene where Gable slaps Stanwyck is a real howler. When the film concentrates on the racing, it has some good energy. But the love story is badly done. Fans of the stars would be better off checking out some of their other films.

VHS : In Cold Blood
Robert Blake is magnificent (there's a word I rarely use) as Perry Smith in this classic rendition of IN COLD BLOOD. While his murderous acts, along w/ partner Dick Hickock (Scott Wilson), are as reprehensible as they are senseless, I found myself captivated by Perry and his fate. Blake brings a child-like quality to this killer that makes him more difficult to hate, and impossible to dismiss. Now, I felt for the victims even more in that they were totally innocent prey. This poor family was annihilated for no reason other than greed and blind rage. Still, Perry Smith is one of those monsters made in the crucible of life-long pain and pointless existence. Did he deserve to pay the highest price for his crimes? Certainly. Is his past an excuse for his actions? Not at all. However, I did find Blake's portrayal to ... Read More

i am a big fan of westerns and especially if they have dean martin or john wayne in them in this case dean martin, i would buy any film with him in it as he is a very good actor and singer though he does not sing in this film, james stewart is also in this excellent western, dean martin and his gang are to be hanged and james stewart posing as the hangman who is in fact the brother of dean in the films breaks them free and they go on the run with a hostage (raquel welch) with the lawman who fancies her in hot persuit. this is a very good film and entertaining.
