VHS : The Thorn Birds - The Complete Miniseries
Overall well produced TV series and I watched intently with many emotions of passion, heartache, compassion, and joy for characters portrayed. The Stanwyk character was deplorable esp. with the line: on my mouth! YIKES!!! The aging process was well done for Cardinal Vittorio, Ralph, Grandma Fi, BUT Meggie looks more gorgeous every year, esp. the last scene, they tried to grey her hair, tho unevenly, during the same scene and nary a wrinkle....no biggie compared to her whisper yelling and flat dialogue, but very beautiful woman...Justine was prolly the worst cast in the series, waaay too wooden for a bohemian, maladjusted, wild child, head movements were even too stilted and not pretty enough to be Meggie's daughter...Dane portrayed the deepest expression of character as supported by the other ... This is one of the worst films I've ever seen ! Here are just a few of my criticisms:

3 of the actresses (Hannah, Oh, and Kelley) are way too old to be strippers. Yes they look great for their ages, but they wouldn't cut it in a strip club with younger competition.

Strippers aren't all a mess, and yet the ones at this club are. Very unrealistic.

No men would go to a strip club where the women kept their bottoms on.

There is no point to this movie other than to apparently moralize that stripping is a depressing road to nowhere. But the reality is that many strippers are pretty much normal women with normal lives, they can just make a heck of a lot more money stripping than doing anything else.

AVOID !

No matter how many times I watch this DVD it never fails to knock me to the floor with laughter. The Ben Stiller -v- Puffy always gets me. Interesting to see the behind the scenes stuff too. Classic movie.

VHS : Lily in Winter
What in this movie is anticipated? The coal-black complexion of Natalie Cole? The fact that she is the staring actress? (I kept waiting for her to break out in song.) Is it the bond the white child forms with his parents' servant? How quickly the mother of the child turns on this servant who is 'just like a member of the family?' Where Lily goes when trouble is suspected? How the boy reacts when he finds out? Her true relationship with family members? The eventual outcome of compounding transgressions?

Not much of what you see is expected. The fact that Natalie portrays an uneducated Southerner neutralizes anticipation for a dramatic performance with enough surprises to make the whole lesson in family ties worthwhile viewing.

(Natalie Cole has an unrelated album called "Take a Look." ... Read More

VHS : Cherokee Kid
I enjoyed this movie. As The Cherokee Kid(Sinbad) met different people, he not only learned from them, but he picked up a life's lesson in the process. Faith took him and his brother(played by the late and great Greagory Hines), on the same path.

VHS : Scream
I recently bought the Scream boxset for a very good price. I watched the first one and I was highly disappointed. The references to other movies got annoying and I hated the cast. I prefer 70's and 80's horror to most of the junk in horror today. It had a few good scenes but wasnt too impressed.

I think Wes Craven is overrated. Ive stated this on anther one of his movies, i've even checked out the Interet movie database to see what he has done. Nightmare on Elm Street is a classic and probably his best work. His other movies were decent but nothing could compare to Nightmare on Elm Street. Scream is decent but I wouldnt call it the greatest horror film of the 90's. Im sure someone will answer this.

VHS : Sugar & Spice
Sugar and Spice is a silly dark comedy but the cast does bring some marginal life to this film especially James Mardsen and Marley Shelton. Mena Suvari plays a cheerleader again! What's with this girl? get some range. Marla Sokoloff does her best b!%&h impression but the premise is pretty lame, these girls will do anything to get out of a bad situation, even rob a grocery store. The only thing I liked about this movie was the music, I regret watching this choppy mess.
