This was a great movie to see in the theater, which is not a typical thing for me to say, and so it is even better in your own home (although the 61" telly helps), where you can pause it and get up to go to the loo. But it was every bit as amazing and moving and incredible to watch. And even though I knew the end of the film, I was still on the edge of my seat as the ship went to her watery grave. An amazing experience for all ages!

VHS : Cinderella (The Wonderful World of Disney)
The voices of Brandy, Bernadette Peters and plenty more make this movie so enjoyable!!
Even how it has Jason Alexander, Victor Garbour and Whoppi Goldburg in the movie brings out the fun in it. What I love about it is that the music and lyrics are all composed my Richard Rodgers and oscar Hammerstein who have given us the most fantastic musicals over the years this is just to 'put the icing on the cake'!

VHS : Annie (1999)
I almost cannot imagine a better-cast "Annie" than this one, unless they could somehow get a time machine and bring young Andrea McArdle herself forward to reclaim the title role. Kathy Bates! Alan Cumming! Audra McDonald! Victor Garber as Daddy Warbucks -- maybe the best of all. The musical is regrettably simplified and shortened for its TV running time, but remains extremely enjoyable and, despite budget and set limitations, far livelier than the overwrought 1982 film. The songs are beautifully sung, and the production numbers are no less delightful for their simplicity. I wish that they could have filmed the full musical, as plotted, with exactly this cast; the result would absolutely have been the definitive "Annie." As it is, I think we are still waiting on the definitive version -- but this is ... Read More

Elle Woods(Reese Witherspoon) is young, blonde, beautiful and the president of Delta Nu Sorority, she has a hunky boyfriend Warner(Matthew Davis) and everything in her life seems pretty perfect.

That is until Warner dumps her for being too much of a marilyn, and not enough of a Jackie on the night Elle believes Warner will propose!

How dare he say Elle wasn't smart?! Now Elle is determined to go to Harvard to study Law(where Warner just happens to be going) to win her man back!

With the help of her sorority sisters, her dog bruiser and some well timed mani-pedis Elle gets into harvard, but it will take a lot more then just that to get her through difficult classes, snotty teachers, and the biggest obstacle, Warner's new fiance Vivian(Selma Blair).

6.Life With Mikey starring: Michael J. Fox, Christina Vidal, Nathan Lane, Cyndi Lauper, David Krumholtz
directed by: James Lapine

VHS : Life With Mikey
Life with Mikey - Michael J Fox is on brilliant form in this entertaining, and occasionally poignant, comedy about growing up, responsibility, and child talent agencies.
The movie is funny in a way that only Nathan Lane and Michael J. Fox could provide, and Cyndi Lauper is adorable as the receptionist. It isn't as touchingly romantic, or as hilarious, as Doc Hollywood but it is another great example of the comedic acting talent of it's cast and especially its leading man.

VHS : Liberty - The American Revolution
Liberty: The American Revolution has great depth of information, but it's a little too much for junior high age students. Unfortunately we bought the DVD from Fot Records who will not allow returns if the package has been opened without penalizing the buyer a hefty 80%!

We are a school library, and we must preview every DVD we buy before we show it to our students. When we realized the DVD was inappropriate for our age group, we returned it to Fot Records only to find out that we were receiving only $8.99 of our original $44.98 because we had opened the package! Essentially we have paid $41.17, including shipping, for a video we RETURNED! We could have just kept the DVD and given it to the high school if we had known in advance of Fot Record's extremely unfair practices.

As a substitute teacher in a middle school English class, I was left this movie to show the class. I knew nothing about it, but I got caught up in its innocent (but never simple-minded) charms. I had to stay late after school to see how it ended! I did not know that Disney had returned so strongly to G and PG rated movie-making. Yes, it is a bit sentimental, but life needs a bit of that, and it offers plenty of food for thought for grown-ups too. A genuine surprise -- and pleasure.

VHS : Life with Judy Garland - Me and My Shadows
This is undoubetdly the greatest biopic ever made. It's been several years since I first saw it on television and no matter where I go, I still hear people talking about it. I don't think I've ever experienced another television movie that has had such a strong and lasting hold on it's audience. It manages to get under the skin of it's central character, the phenomenal Judy Garland. It tells the story of her triumphant and often unhappy life as straight and honestly as any movie possible can, never letting us forget how brilliantly talented and troubled she was. There is an affection for Ms. Garland that permeates every frame of this film and infects its audience no matter how many times one sees it. Watching the brilliant performances of Tammy Blanchard and Judy Davis actually allows the audience to experience the greatness of ... Read More

My son needed this for their summer production in high school. He said it was good, and it helped him get a feel for the script that was better than just reading the script.
