VHS : Tombstone
Tombstone - The Director's Cut (Vista Series) As opposed to the DVD Tombstone which is a single DVD cased in a black box contianer, the "Director's Cut" provides us with a wonderful "Silhouette-Beige" Earthtone - Double-folding Jacket which contains two (2) DVD's. Wow! Next, this double-folding jacket slides into a TOMBSTONE color-portfolio box! The earthtone colors are simply amazing to view; I was so moved by the professional artistry that it took me almost an entire hour to cease reviewing its breath taking beauty.
Once inside the jacket, one discovers a continuing theme of this same earthtone artistry. Director George A. Cosmatos provides us with surprize after surprize and his cut answers one of the most lingering unanswered questions that the regular single DVD encased in black ... Read More

Campy Batman can work with a good cast and right atmosphere, but here it mixes with dark Batsy and has a bad cast. (Except Jim Carrery.)

VHS : The Prince of Egypt
This 1998 animated smash hit musical about the Biblical Exodus combines all the drama, authenticity of costumes and location, and emotion of the time period from whence mankind was ultimately given the Ten Commandments.
The commencement provides a view of an initially arid, serene, and timeless place whose calm is abruptly shattered by the brutality of the ancient Egyptian slave system and the anguished Israelis nearly crushed under its weight.
The voice of the late Israeli folk singer Ofra Haza takes over from the gospel choir's vocal lament of the Hebrew's plight, as the young slave mother Yocheved, who along with her older son and daughter (the latter of whom is voiced by Eden Riegel) scurry to protect their infant son and brother from legalized infancticide.
When so many ... Read More

VHS : Man Who Broke 1000 Chains
I first viewed this movie when I was a young child during the 80's on HBO and what I saw has stuck with me to this day. It was such an outstanding performance that I have modeled my own acting style on Val Kilmer. I have tried to find this movie in video stores on and off for years, but with no success. It's funny to find it here on Amazon but on VHS which is a completely dead medium. The fact is, Val Kilmer delivers here, along with the rest of the cast, the performance of a lifetime.

The Man Who Broke 1000 Chains is a true story about a war veteran who, desparate for money is coereced to commit robbery. Our hero tries to back out, but then is forced to help carry out the nefarious deed. The robbery goes wrong and our hero is imprisoned and forced to work on a chain gang. We see through ... VHS : Real Genius
Real Genius was the 1st time I saw Val Kilmer. He is very funny. At a school for genius young people, you see how some of them cope with their skills. Val was once a very serious student & almost went brain dead. Now he copes by being a funny goof-off. I enjoyed the antics & behaviors that are brought out of these real genius's.

VHS : Wonderland (2003)
Presumably the director made this film frantic and confusing on purpose, to better simulate the world as seen through the eyes of coke addicts.

Even assuming that to be the case, though, the technique wasn't successful. Tremendous demands are made on the viewer: unless you know a great deal about the Wonderland murders, you'll simply be on the wrong foot for virtually the entire film.

Unfortunately, if you DO know something about the Wonderland murders, this film has little of interest to add.

What's really great about this DVD, though, is not the film itself, but rather the feature-length documentary that comes on the second disk: "The Life and Times of Johnny Wadd." This is so well done that it alone is worth the price of admission: it will tell you all you ever wanted ... Read More

VHS : Willow
Willow was such a delightful movie. I've had the movie for years and about every two years I play it again--it's that entertaining. You would think Hollywood would take the hint and had sequels to this movie. I feel this way about Clash of the Titans also--still playing it every so often since the 80's! Anyway, Val Kilmer was great and the little folks stole the show! We need more--come on Hollywood, start growing some smarts!

Great and outstanding early performance by Val Kilmer prefaces his mega acting career. Wonderfully humorous to lighten the intense drama that this movie is. Reminded me of times I spent in Montana with the Crow and Northern Cheyenne and some the lingering issues they had with the federal government even into the 1990's and perhaps still exist today.
