VHS : Tarzan (Walt Disney)
Somewhere in 2000, Disney quietly launched a special 2 disc collector's edition of "Tarzan" the same year as its paltry one disc edition. For some reason it advertised the one disc version heavily, which is a shame because the collector's edition is a gem not to be missed by fans. Unfortunately I didn't know about it until years after its release, and by then it was out of print, hard to find, and expensive. Luckily I found a copy that was decently priced, and was finally able to get my hands on this remarkable edition. I see this as the "Tarzan" DVD for adults: instead of cartoony illustrations on the jacket, there's Glen Keane's famous sketch of Tarzan peering at you with those intense eyes. The menus are extremely well designed and the commentaries are entertaining and insightful. It's ... Read More

VHS : Nixon
As a filmmaker I appreciate Oliver Stone, his provactive, political, conspiratorial, curious, enigmatic, ominous visions of Americana are the stuff of high entertainment. Right or wrong, his works are wonderful cinema, it doesn't matter if his version is slanted to the left, it is a distinct vision and he is skilled at executing it.
Be that as it may Nixon is no JFK. Though both are named for presidents of the same era, one is about a murder and it's associate conspiracies-presented in staggering detail, while the other is a psychological Greek-styled high drama of a hugely important personality, flawed and potent, crumbling and explosive.
Anthony Hopkins disappears into the role, and as these things usually do, a great actor and a great part/material make the best of art. Hopkins ... Read More

What a wonderful piece of work. I love to watch and rewatch this movie. It really has a powerful message about having people in our lives who may not be able to function like everyone else, but that is exactly why they are so loveable. You can learn a lot from them if you listen and watch. Mr. Erman really got the point across. The cast was incredible.

Ghost (Special Collector's Edition)
Its hard to imagine virile, very-much alive PATRICK SWAYZE as a ghost. But that's what he becomes when he is shot by a mugger while walking home with girl-friend DEMI MOORE. Swayze can't figure why he's been left to roam the earth, but it doesn't take him long to work out that he's there for a purpose and that's to protect DEMI from those who had his killing rigged to look like a casual shoot-and-run affair. This isn't easy ( as DEMI can't see or hear him and he can't move objects ) until he latches on to a PSYCHIC (WHOOPI GOLDBERG) and takes lessons in telekinesis from a sub-way Ghost, VINCENT SCHIAVELLI. Whoopi isn't enthusiastic: Why don't you get some chains and find a house to haunt? she complains. But Swayze makes himself a nuisance enough to force her hand. This ... Read More

Does anyone know if this DVD has been re-released? I have the original DVD when it first came out and you have to flip the DVD over to see the last 20 minutes of the movie and that's not cool.

I've read a few reviews of this film that said it was creepy and really not all that good. I disagree completely. I loved it. I thought it was a very good character study of 2 people in recovery from trauma, each from a different type. The performances were very good, the movie was not too long, it made its point and got on with it, and it was believable to me. There was one situation that seemed a bit off, but all in all I highly recommend this movie.

This is a great movie about a great president of the United States. My husband and I both enjoyed watching a replay of history that we had lived through. President Truman rates at the top of the list of best presidents with us.

Caught this movie on late at night, while watching saturday night live. I stopped watching that I kept watching this movie. I liked it a lot Tony, playing rich boy Michael was very handsome and Lynn Whitfield playing the detective who has to keep him alive was excellent. The movie actually had a lot of funny parts as well as a little to much action and violence as is the norm for many movies made at this time. Definetly worth watching and the ending is very satisfying.

VHS : Gaby - A True Story
This is the most touching and inspirational movie. The fact that is based on true facts makes it even more powerful.I can't wait to see it produced on DVD. I have being looking for it on DVD for a long time. I am a Psychologist, and MFT and this is a movie that I would recommend to all my patients to see. "I believe that it does not matter what life brings us, it is up to us to overcome adversity. We have the freedom in our will to choose not to be miserable by being in the presence of the absence, and to do the best of what we have."
