VHS : The Birds
The Birds was the most ridiculous horror movie I've watched (and that includes The Evil Dead and other junk). Not only because of the lousy special effects - let's relegate those to the lack of technology. But the characters' reactions to the bird attacks often are preposterous. Let's pick the final scene when Miss Daniels hears a wing flutter and goes in the room at the top of the house, and see how many things are wrong with it:

1. Why would she go there?!
2. Why, after peeking into the room and seeing it chock-full of birds, would she enter and...
3. ... close the door behind her?
4. Why then, when the birds start attacking, does she make all sorts of uncoordinated gestures instead of getting the hell out?
5. Finally, her acting in that ... Read More

VHS : The Birds II: Land's End
It figures. Something like this was bound to happen to me. After viewing all the reveiws off amazon, I was just a bit curious of The Birds II. It sounded exciting, but compared to everyone else's opinion, I seriously didn't think much of it. Somehow I predicted once I bought it, I would make a regret, but no. I actually liked it. To tell the truth, I make no regrets about buying it. I loved it, which is the problem. In B low-grade movies everyone else despises, I end up to be the one who breaks that chain. That's me of course. I suggest this movie to anyone who likes sequels to good movies. Not as good as the original, but good.

VHS : Through the Eyes of a Killer
My husband got this movie on dvd for me one Christmas. I couldn't believe Richard Dean Anderson was able to play a very convincing crazy killer. Very good movie except at the end just after the murder attempt. I felt the movie should have continued with the search for Ray and more. I liked the decor colors used in the new kitchen. I thought Marg was very good too. I still watch her on CSI.

This is one of the better B suspense movies I've seen. Plus I'm a Marc Singer fan, and if you are too, you'll probably like this. Lots of sex, but that's to be expected from a film of this caliber. I don't think it detracts from the movie's suspense. Did I miss something? What role did Tippy Hedren play? I didn't notice her, but then, it's been a while.

VHS : Alfred Hitchcock's Marnie
This is one of Hitchcock's masterpieces. It has been highly underrated and misunderstood by viewers and many critics alike. The prolific Robin Wood, to a somewhat Freudian degree, has been a steadfast proponent of this film's penetrating affect on its characters, viewer reaction and Hitchcock's overall intent. It is not a straightforward narrative as it deals with the compulsive and obsessive nature of its two main characters (Tippi Hedren and Sean Connery). The viewer has to become absorbed and drawn into the film's sights and sounds. The viewer has to elicit from what is seen and heard to fathom the motivations of the film's two main characters. Some of its images are just unforgettable and disturbingly haunting. Many of these are process shots that evoke deep emotional responses for their somewhat obvious visual ... Read More

VHS : Pacific Heights
Pacific Heights is a story about obsession and violence. Michael Keaton has never been creepier than this movie, his performance was the highlight of his career. Matthew Modine and Melanie Griffith are good as well, they play a couple who become terrified of their new tentant. This film is oldie but goodie, don't watch it alone.

A very good character study of a frigid, kleptomaniac with a love triangle thrown in to boot. Tippi Hedren is much better in this one than in "The Birds".

First of all, I love Brando, love Sophia Loren. I saw this in the theaters when it first came out and I wanted to own it. It wasn't so much that this is a good movie; it's just entertainingly bad. The editing is choppy, the actors move around like they are pieces being placed on a chess board, Brando is obviously BORED and he looks as though he over-acts on purpose in some of the scenes. The extras are AWFUL...the whole movie has an out-of-date feel to it (and not in a good way). There is NO sexual tension between 2 of the sexiest movie stars ever. So, what do I like about it? The absolutely gorgeous love theme "This is my song', watching Sophia Loren's luminous eyes fill with tears, and Marlon Brando doing a semi-tango at the end (although he messes up at one point...watch closely). Yeah, I bought it, still watch it...it is one of ... Read More

VHS : Break Up (1998)
This was not too bad a movie, but it's definitely lacking in areas. This abusive man is one step above the normal abusive man portrayed on screen, or radio. He abuses his wife, and causes her to fall off the steps. That is because she confronted him about a woman she was having an affair with, and this was after he accussed her of sleeping around. Then comes where it goes one step beyond the norm on movie, and tv. He finds out that he hurt her to the point of near death, so he goes the next step further by staging his own death, and making it look like his wife did the dirty deed. Then goes off with his new fling, and abuses her too while his wife tries to find out what happened to her husband to clear her name, and then as the movie goes along finds out more about what he did. I found this movie to be lacking in the sense that the only ... Read More
