VHS : Made in Heaven
Saw this when I was very young, maybe 9 or 10, and it somehow moved me in a visceral way that I simply cannot convey in words. But I never found out what it was called. With the memory of the powerful ending vaguely imprinted on my mind I vowed that I would one day find out the name of this movie. I have been clutching at straws for years trying to figure it out. Only recently did I find out, I'm now 25!

I have used the the Warner Brothers comment system on their website to try push for a DVD release. It MUST happen. AMAZON, if you can hear me, please do ALL you can.

VHS : Year of the Comet
This movie has gotten some unnecessarily bad press. It's basically a Cinderella story with wine. The performances are excellent and the Louis Jourdan subplot is clever. This is a straightforward romantic comedy with some international adventure elements. The script is by the great William Goldman. I've seen it again and again. It's sweet and endearing and the wine information is accurate. Check it out. You have nothing to lose and you probably have a wine-loving friend or two who will find it fun.

VHS : Object of My Affection
This rather complicated little tale has stood the test of time. It is still funny, still warm-hearted, and still daring. Aniston and Rudd make a lovable couple whom we all root for, even though we know it won't and can't work. Screenwriter Wasserstein has written a Shakepearean comedy of desperate tears that comes to a happy ending, with all the people sorting themselves out into the right mates: straights go with straights, gays with gays, and everyone lives happily ever after. The actors are 'stars' but they seem very unglamorous; Rudd and Aniston are cute without the kind of extraordinary beauty that makes some stars seem above common struggles. The actors here persuasively ordinary. He plays a school teacher, while she is a social worker. All of this is believable. The loving relationship ... Read More

This is one of those movies that you catch on one of the cable stations late at night. Although I haven't seen it in years, I really, REALLY wish it would come to Blu-ray and DVD as suggested by many other reviewers/posters here at Amazon.

Kelly Preston's acting skills are a bit "overdone" but nonetheless, she manages to pull it off whereas Tim Daly and Rich Rossovich both shine. Audra Lindley - Mrs Roper from Three's company, does an AWESOME job as Miranda's mother in the office scene where she starts pulling out her hair! And Anthony Crivello as Aldice is also very convincing in his job as a satanist.

All and all, it was a VERY entertaining movie with a few corny parts tossed in for good measure, I presume. But definitely well worth the watch. The ending will shock ... Read More

VHS : Batman Superman Movie (Clam)
I'm a big fan of Batman and Superman. Have been since my youth. Seeing as to how they'd be starring in a movie together, you'd think I'd be giving this movie a five-star rating. While I desperately wanted to give it such a rating, this animated film just didn't excite me as much as any of the others I've seen of the DC Universe. In this tale, Joker and Harley steal the Laughing Dragon(which turns out to be made of Krpytonite). Finding this out, Joker plots Superman's death with Lex Luthor for a sum of money. Lex agrees but doesn't want to be found out as a partner to the crime. It's up to Batman and Superman working together to stop it from happening. Meantime, Bruce Wayne and Lois Lane start to become romantically involved much to the chagrin of Clark Kent & that causes many a problem for our duo. ... Read More

VHS : Alex Haley's Queen (3 VHS Set)
Set in the old South, the story of Queen is a sad, but poignant one. The prejudice against her and the confusion and fear she endures because of her mixed heritage sheds light on the suffering of the times. The acting was great. I think this was one of the first leads for Halle Berry and she does a marvelous job. The only problem I had was her makeup. It's like they were trying to make her look lighter than what she was and her skin color would come out chalkie sometimes. Also, there was no way to confuse her with being white (because of her coloring and features), even when she was young (played by Raven-Symone), yet there was references to her being almost white as a sheet or something like that. Queen couldn't find help from white or black. Being of mixed heritage myself, it's hard enough these days, but during ... Read More

VHS : Just the Way You Are
This is one of my favorite movies from the '80s. Kristy is great, Michael is great. The soundtrack with ABBA and OXO really liven up the scenes. Why in the world is this not on DVD?? Really doesn't make sense when there is plenty of junk being put on DVD every day instead.

VHS : A House Divided
Talk about living history... I've read all the books about this family and I live in the house David built for his daughter Amanda in 1871. I can look out my window and see the spot where David's childhood home once stood. I even met Jennifer Beals when she came to see the house and the land. Although not filmed here, the movie was great - although it did take a little dramatic license. It was known Julia held a very high position of authority, very rare for a woman, much less a black slave woman. It was also apparent David felt much love for his bi-racial daughter Amanda. Only two people know the truth of nature of the relationship between David and Julia that brought Amanda into existence, if indeed David was the father. (He was married for several years and never produced children.) If you're into historical drama, ... Read More
