The fourth of the five Gunsmoke movies deals with the perennially
nasty possibility that law and justice can come into conflict.
A false witness puts ex-Marshal Matt Dillon into the type of danger
he had been notably skilled at disarming in his twenty years as US Marshal
of Dodge City. What should you do when law and justice apparently cannot
both be served? This movie shows the stark contrast between corruptible
New Mexico territorial lawmen, and the incorruptible Kansas peace
officer, retired.

An especially good movie for a new generation of Gunsmoke fans.

If you're into realistic post-nuc war movies then check this out. This is one of the few movies in the genre that I really like. I first saw this when I was like 12 on VHS and had have waited ever since for a DVD version to be released. All of the other reviewers are total haters comparing this to cheesey sci-fi not even close to being realistic movies. The plot is totally plausable and isn't too dated for a movie from the 80's. anyways watch this movie if you're into the genre thats it. The amount of mullets is at a minimum too considering this is a canadian production thats pretty crazy. And iswear one of the guys is the fat guy from cheers in a kilt and shotgun. whats not to like?

This film is very well made, based on Peter Straub's classic novel. The movie is a little long but not boring and it has plently of scary moments.I recommend this highly to a fan of modern horror fan that's been lost in the trendy films that are made on the silver screen currently and are looking for a naturally scary horror film.Read the book as well,I read the book in high school and enjoyed it thoroughly:)

I watched the whole movie hoping to see something worth the price of the dvd. Sorry , no such luck. One scene where the girls were telling secrets was somewhat amusing.
I gave it to my niece to give to her husband as a joke.
Save your money and time.

I was an extra in the dance scene (white shirt, purple pantaloons, mustache, sunglasses, alot of hair that is now gone). 20 years later, I decide to see the film. Not bad. I enjoyed seeing a young Wally Shawn, and although at times the movie was a bit drawn out, overall I enjoyed it.

VHS : Jane Austen in Manhattan
I'm a Jane Austen freak and devoted to Merchant Ivory movies. This one is early and quirky. It's about art and acting. It's about two quite different ways to bring Jane Austen to life in Manhattan: a traditional, aristocratic way, and an avant garde liberatory way. Watching the two ways interact on the screen (and almost merge at the end) while trying to follow the story of who abducted who and how she felt about it ties your mind in unexpected knots. I think one needs to have read not only Jane Austen's juvenilia, but also Richardson's now-impossible once-best-seller novel Sir Charles Grandison to understand all the allusions and satire. If you happen to have experienced the artistic circles in New York in the 60's and 70's - from the upper class patrons of experimental avant garde art to the struggling ... Read More

Comedy is a dicey business. For some, it isn't funny unless it's current and political. To others it's all about how people get along together. Luckily, this movie gives everyone a chance to laugh. While this is a romantic comedy, with all of the usual "boy meets/rejects/gets rejected by/reunites with girl" plots, it is also a timeless look at the business of television, soap operas in particular. The only indication that this movie might not be current is the over-the-top 80s wardrobe.

Also, the cast certainly contributes to the experience. Just watching Robert Downey Jr., Sally Field, Carrie Fisher, Kevin Kline, Elizabeth Shue, Terry Hatcher, Whoopie Goldberg, Garry Marshall and Cathy Moriarty tear up the scenery is a complete treat.

You won't regret owning this one.
