VHS : My Fair Lady (digitally THX mastered)
The only problem I have with this DVD of "My Fair Lady" is that it is in letter-box format & it's too scrunched down for me to read the lips. Good thing I know the movie by heart PLUS it has "closed captioning". Other than that, my friend & I completely enjoyed the movie. It arrived SO QUICKLY & the price was SO affordable! I'll do all my Christmas shopping at Amazon!

VHS : The African Queen
What a work of art! This is one of the best movies of all time. When the spinster missionary woman (Hepburn) must TOLERATE Mr. Arnaut (Bogart)
in their life-threatening trip down the river in a beat-up old boat, The African Queen, the fun begins. She can drum up no respect for this man--until she realizes that he is an intelligent person who may be able to save their lives by his cool wit. He good naturedly sloughs off her constant criticism, while she endures his slovenly ways and colorful language. At some point they start developing a strong like for each other. When Bogie finally shaves, well you know romantic sparks are about to fly. Movies or stories do not come any better than this.

VHS : 200 Motels
Your level of enjoyment will probably depend on how much you appreciate Zappa and his particular brand of [...]. As a movie musical, it seems at times to be a parody of the genre while simultaneously stretching the form well beyond its normal parameters. There are a few genuinely hilarious laugh-out-loud moments, and I love the incidental orchestral music that accompanies and perfectly complements some of the scenes, but I was no fan of the Flo & Eddie era Mothers, so most of the band stuff does nothing for me. Well worth one viewing but I can't imagine wanting to see it again for a very long time: the last time I saw it was at a theatre when it was first released, 36 years ago, I believe; I could probably wait that long again.

I cannot wait to see it! Now, I am patiently waiting on the rest to be released on DVD. :)

VHS : Sweet November
Where do I begin to tell you what a relief to see that this classic has been made available for home viewing. It was 1975 and I was 11 years old watching late night TV when a movie, I have never heard of, came on and I was immediately drawn in. Truly captivated by Anthony Newley and Sandy Dennis. I was exposed to my very first tear-jerker and to say I was touched would be a complete understatement. For years, every week I would scan through my TV Guide to find it but to no avail. This was a day when all Movies did not go to VHS after it's release. In my 20's I actually went to see Anthony Newley live in "Stop The World I Want To Get Off" (which he wrote and starred in) at a local theatre. My quest was to meet him and ask when I will see "Sweet November" again. After the show I begged to go backstage to ... Read More

VHS : Memories of Midnight
This movie was terribly dissapointing. The Other Side of Midnight is one of my all time favorites and I could not wait to see this movie. The characters and story line are weak and unsophisticated compared to OSOM. I loved Jane's business attire, she dressed to the T in this movie and the scenery in Greece and Venice were lovely and that's about it. I would not watch this mini series again. Jane Seymore was wonderful in "Somewhere in Time".

VHS : Enemy Below
A lot of World War II movies show how it was for U.S. Subs during that War. The Enemy Below reverses the normal and gives a look at the enemy in a sub being chased by an American Ship. It isn't the expected outcome but the action is good and the acting superb! It's a great movie.

10.I Want to Live (1958) starring: Susan Hayward, Simon Oakland, Virginia Vincent, Theodore Bikel, Wesley Lau

VHS : I Want to Live (1958)
Susan Hayward won the Academy Award in 1958 for her performance of a woman on death row. Probably the best thing Hayward ever did, one gets the sense that her character is wrongly accused of murder. The story and plot move at a great pace, and all the performances are strong. Direction is also superb. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon watching an Oscar performance in the making. The film comes in widescreen and the only extras are the trailer. Highly recommended.
