Now that is on Broadway, do you think it will be released on DVD? I loved this movie when I was young and love this movie now. It is a good comedy but you must understand the era it was made in. I am awaiting the DVD release.

VHS : Move over Darling
This fantastic remake of an old Cary Grant movie about a woman who returns home after being pronounced dead is one that can be watched over and over by the whole family. It is one of Doris Day's best and James Garner makes a great partner for her in this film. There are other great supporting players, though Polly Bergen seems to be miscast. Doris's "massage" where she references the old Cary Grant movie is hilarious! A movie worth getting!

VHS : Pillow Talk
This is an adorable romantic comedy starring the ever classy Doris Day and handsome Rock Hudson. I don't quite understand the concept these two people sharing a party-line-but maybe that's just a generation thing. Randall is also funny, his character reminds me of a pre- Woody Allen and Richard Lewis shtick. And Thelma Ritter was just hilarious. I did think Forbe's love for Jan ended abruptly and the doctor who really thought there was the possibility of a pregnant man roaming around-a bit over the top. But all in all, this movie does deliver a smile on your face at the end.

VHS : Father Was a Fullback
We loved it and laughed all the way through it. I hope a real coach
doesn't have to go through all the antics that Fred MacMurray went
through. You have to like Fred MacMurray to really appreciate
this movie. I guess what made us laugh most were the teens. Our
daughter was the same way. I wasn't sure either of us would live
through those times.

***** 1953. Written and directed by Samuel Fuller. One nomination for the Academy awards (Thelma Ritter). A pickpocket steals a microfilm without knowing it. Cops, F.B.I. and communists are soon after him. Criterion released a perfect copy of this movie that should be in any movie lover's library. Two rare interviews of Samuel Fuller complete this DVD. Masterpiece.

I am a big fan of both Grace Kelly and Alfred Hitchcock, but I really think this film is ridiculous. We are made to believe that somehow this photographer (Stewart) is holed up in his shoddy back-alley apartment due to an injury, but his gorgeous socialite girlfriend (Kelly) is not at all averse to hanging out there constantly. She looks as out of place as a Tiffany lamp in a public restroom. There is also a ridiculous attempt at sexualizing Kelly, involving her showing Stewart a piece of not-so-revealing lingerie (not even wearing, just showing) as "a taste of things to come." Grace Kelly is just not right here, mainly because she seems simultaneously less uptight and more classy than her character.

I wish I could critique the writing, but since this is a suspense film it would be too much ... Read More
