I think that this was weird that this was a Paramount movie and the tag line said Dimension Diversion On Miramax Films. This was 1993 movie, DVD Release 1993 94 minutes long ( very rare ). Region 2 didn't have near good effects. Micahs Transformation wasn't on R.2, when Micah gets hit by eletric bolt he screams and on R.2 he doesn't, then his voice gets real deep at the end not on R.2, then when the face appears on Micah his face changes shape before the devil appears. The Top Ten New Mdeia DVD doesn't have those effects. Different music was in different regions, the VHS had those effects to, and feel free to comment and ask me questions about this CotC movie. I know every single thing on this movie. This is another CotC review, i write reviews on all of the CotC movies but in a mixed-up ... Read More

You know I have been pondering on what to review next and I remembered a good thriller I had not seen in a long time LIES Lies is a underrated HORROR that stars Ann Dusenberry as an actress fired from a SLASHER film for not exposing her breasts.("I'm an actress, not a stripper,"she yells and the producer screams THIS IS A ....... HORROR FILM YOU HAVE TO SHOW THEM)She then is hired to star in a movie about a mad woman and the plot twist predates both BODY DOUBLE & DEAD OF WINTER this is a enjoyable film with a cast of underappreciated thesps.

A superb family film which demonstrates how a chess club turns life around for a group of inner-city kids at a struggling junior high. In the style of classics such as "LEAN ON ME," a tough, no-nonsense teacher takes a group of "problem kids" and turns them into a team which goes beyond everyone's expectations. Through stuggle, commitment, discipline and adherance to the rules, the children overcome the odds and earn a chance at the national title!

The paths of three totally different groups of people cross atop a snow covered mountain: One seeking the satisfaction from greed and lust, one on a self-serving vacation of personal evaluation, and one seeking justice. Terence Knox is great in this movie. The ending was different than what I expected.

I'd like to add my voice to that of the others who are hoping for a widescreen DVD release of this excellent film. It was available that way some years ago on laserdisc and it looked great. Heston, Cooper and Harris work extremely well together; the model work is better than average for its time; the tank shots feature some of the most convincing water/storm effects ever put on film. The original book was a best-seller when it came out and this film version does a generally excellent job of capturing its essence (am I the only person to detect a certain similarity between it and Morgan Robertson's turn-of-the-last-century novel "Futility"?). In view of all the unbelievable *junk* coming out on DVD right now, there's simply no reason for "Mary Deere" to remain buried in the vaults.

Ditto to the questions - why is the cost for this movie (used!) so high? Wanted my sister to see it, but she would throttle me if I spent 50 dollars for it! Amazon should put this movie in stock and sell for less!
