everything about this movie is touching and appealing with a real authentic feel. I love the way the characters interact without lots of words - just very good acting.

you'll love it.

VHS : The Chipmunk Adventure
What is there not to like about these adorable rodents with their cute high pitched voices. I originally ordered a CD of Alvin to show my daughter. I had precious memories of listening to Alvin in my childhood and wanted to continue the tradition. Amazingly, just after that, the movie of Alvin and the chipmunks came out at the cinema. My daughter was so excited! She proceeded to tell all her friends about Alvin, before the movie had even come out. An excellent gift for young ones (or those young at heart).

VHS : Powder
SPOILER ALERT!!!

Sean Patrick Flanery is almost unrecognizable in this movie about an Albino boy with extrodinary powers. While still in the womb, Powder's mother is struck by lightning while standing in a puddle. She is lost but her son survives. Gifted with incredible intellect, telepathy, and paranormal powers over electricity, Powder is pulled from his sheltered life after both grandparents have died and is tossed into the care of the state.

Children can be so cruel but never underestimate the power of the human spirit. This movie will make you feel warm and fuzzy all over.

This movie to my surprise is very very good. I rarly can watch a mini-series without dozing off, but this one had me glued to my tv for about 4 hours, or more. This is a great movie, if your lucky enough to find this movie, even if its on VHS, GET IT.

VHS : Wizards
I enjoyed Wizards the first time I saw it and I enjoyed it the last time. Generally it was well done but Mr. Bakshi's intension that it be for children I find a little off. The amount of violence would seem to be more suited for adult fantasy enthusiasts or, maybe, adolescents.

The priests segment is rather calculated to offend a wide variety of religious adherents. I couldn't really think of a single major religion that it didn't take a shot at.

The film becomes rather rushed at times. Those segments showcase some rather advanced techniques for the time but it gives the feeling that the crew was rather tired of working on the movie and just wanted to get it done. But that's pretty much explained in the extra material.

This is one of those, for the most part appealing, ... Read More

VHS : Angel (1984)
It just doesn't get any better than this. Teen high schooler doubling as street prostitute. But wait, all is not well, there's a hooker killer on the loose! This has a great cast, a great script, is exciting from beginning to end, and packs in the laughs for the most part. Donna Wilkes is totally convincing, you really feel her character's motivation to do well at school to forward herself, yet her desperate need to support herself through tricking while living out the fantasy that the parents who abandoned her will return to save her. This movie is not cliqued at all. Her doomed friends are sweet and a hoot. Dick Shawn outdoes himself once again as drag queen prostitute/protector of Angel in what is clearly his best role. Rory Calhoun proves himself once again a top-notch comedian. Cliff Gorman and Susan ... Read More

Returning from a vacation, a father who knows nothing has run out of gas somewhere in Nevada on the way back to L. A. Charlie Cox has his preteen daughter along who is about to have a birthday. A the Exxon, the manager says they are out of gas as there has been no delivery. They usually kill the stranded owners and take parts from the cars to resell. The father and daughter are deserted and stuck in a trailer part with typical occupants. "Everything is about money": the familiar Sixties complaint from an old flower child; they don't work so look down on money and those who make it legitimately. Personal commment: No wonder they were drug users.

Joleen, the preteen girl is dressed in a black bikini, with a figure like mine. She is exactly like Dolly Parton's "Joleen." On Chuck's birthday (also Joleen's ... Read More
