VHS : Harold & Maude (Aniv)
"Harold and Maude" is a romantic, darkly comic fantasy about two eccentric souls who briefly find in each other love and companionship. Young Harold is obsessed with death, attending funerals and staging suicide-themed vignettes starring none other than himself. Mother tries to cure him of his eccentricities by finding a computer date for him; Uncle feels the military will shape him up. A Freudian psychiatrist offers counsel as does a lecherous priest. All to no avail. Harold, pale and a little creased around the mouth, is a lonely young misfit.

Enter Maude, an eccentric old lady closing in on her eightieth birthday, lover of life, open to new experiences, not giving a darn what anyone thinks of her, not caring a fig for society's rules. She meets Harold when attending ... Read More

VHS : Great Expectations
This is the best version of Great Expectations in film, I gave it a star because it's in VHS. I have no idea why they didn't come out on DVD.

Well...if any of you are waiting for DVD or planning to buy this VHS, think again. This film actually came out in DVD at UK so look somewhere else.

4.Butterfield 8 starring: Elizabeth Taylor, Laurence Harvey, Eddie Fisher, Dina Merrill, Mildred Dunnock
directed by: Daniel Mann

VHS : Butterfield 8
Butterfield 8 is pure camp, plain and simple! Elizabeth Taylor is the best thing in this uneven film, she won her first Oscar. Her character is anything but an angel, she drinks, swears, sleeps around with every man in town. I heard that Taylor tried to get out of making this film but she is a great actress so she knew she could pull this off. The ending is tragic and who said Eddie Fisher could act?! Definitely a movie to watch on a rainy afternoon.

VHS : Romeo and Juliet
Laurence Harvey is oddly perfect as Romeo, that girl ought to
be edited out of the movie. The scenery is wonderful. It's very
elegant and exquisite to watch.

VHS : They Won't Believe Me
It's not easy to construct a review for "They Won't Believe Me". The main reason is the startling number of twist and turns in the plot. That good guy, Robert Young, is the central character and entwines himself with no fewer than 3 women in just 95 minutes of run time. Only one is his spouse! That 2 of these ladies meet their demise is the crux of TWBM. In the opening scene, RY is on trial for the murder of one. Viewers will know of his culpability but the jurors don't! TWBM proceeds to backtrack via flashback in classic noir fashion. RY is fine but the 3 ladies-wife Rita Johnson and girl friends Jane Greer and Susan Hayward carry the movie. Hayward is best as she shifts from icy babe to nice girl. Viewers should watch for one big double cross late in the movie. This review will conclude here so as not to divulge ... Read More

VHS : From Hell
From Hell starring Johnny Depp is set against the backdrop of the famed killer, Jack the Ripper. Depp is a great actor but even his unique talent can't save this boring, slow-moving train wreck. Who cast Heather Graham?! She is one of the worst female actors ever!! She can't even pull off any kind of accent, her performance is painful to watch. This film tries to be scary and grounbreaking but I lost interest halfway through, snooze...

10.Pajama Party starring: Tommy Kirk, Annette Funicello, Elsa Lanchester, Harvey Lembeck, Jesse White
directed by: Don Weis

VHS : Pajama Party
_Pajama Party_ is the 4th entry in the "beach movie" series. _Pajama Party_ has it all: Throwaway songs, forgettable dialogue, poor dubbing, lousy twist music, ridiculous plot and plenty of semi-nude gyrating bodies. All of these attributes combine to make this movie totally enjoyable. Although _Pajama Party_ was an American International quickie, it has all the charm of a Disney movie during certain scenes. Maybe it's the old, familiar Disney characters, such as Elsa Lanchester and Tommy Kirk, in combination with Annette Funicello that help create this illusion.

In the "beach" flicks, Annette always played a chick named Dee Dee or Jennifer or Connie or Dolores. Whatever. Her names changed, but the characters she played were always the same. However, in _Pajama Party_, Annette finally exchanges her bulletproof beehive for ... Read More
