Don't expose them to sunlight. Don't let them get wet. And under no circumstances feed them after midnight.

Those are the rules for the now-legendary mogwai, adorable little fuzzballs who transform if you break the last rule. And "Gremlins" is a gloriously unconventional Christmas movie -- a postcard-pretty view of suburban middle-America, splattered with gore, nasty little gremlins and a truly wicked sense of humour (expressed often in movie send-ups).

Randall (Hoyt Axton) spots a tiny adorable creature -- a mogwai -- in a small Chinatown shop, and wants to buy it as a Christmas present for his son. The owner refuses, but his grandson secretly sells it to Randall.

Randall's son Billy (Zach Galligan) is delighted by the fuzzy lightphobic mogwai, whom ... Read More

VHS : Zenon - The Zequel - Disney Channel Original Movie
I've watched this movie SO many times back when it aired on Disney, and I've watched its predecessor and successor as well. It's obviously a Disney movie, made for the 8-to-15 age range, but for someone like me who's into space exploration and future technologies, the movie surpasses the age barrier. It obviously has some pitfalls for older viewers, particularly the that's-too-easy plot line and some of the more embarrassing catch-phrases that the writers created for use as "space slang," but there are also some fantastic space elements in the movie. The costumes used are AWESOME -- I wish that stuff were in fashion, because I'd be wearing it everywhere. The space station sets are futuristic in a realistic sort of way that makes you think, "If I had to imagine what a space station would ... Read More

VHS : Liquid Sky
'LIQUID SKY' is one of the most irritating, weird and oddly watchable movies ever made. Centered around the underground world of Margaret played by Anne Carlisle, a heroin-soaked fashion model but fashions more suited to Barnum @ Bailey than Park Avenue. Heroin hungry aliens in a pie-plate sized saucer land on Margarets rooftop because the aliens have discovered a heroin-like substance is secreted in the brain at the point of orgasm and Margaret unknowingly dispatches a few donors to the aliens thirst. Each victim is left with a crystal obelisk imbedded deep into their skull-the meaning of the obelisk? Who knows? But in this movie-you just accept it.

Margaret shares her apartment with a vile, foul-mouthed gnome played by Paula Sheppard who is a heroin-pusher and a bizzaro performance ... Read More

VHS : Staying Alive
Of course the end song is fantastic "staying alive", Bee Gees' best song.

The movie has a simple yet realistic story. It flows easily. It's a lot of fun. I don't agree with the values it exposes but they may not be unrealistic. I recommend it if you like a fun, light, and uninsalting-to-your-intelligence-by-having-a-dumb-story movie. Travolta was made for the role and his acting was great.

The reader will not need to trawl through too many reviews about Giles Foster's 1994 adaptation of Joanna Trollope's (b.1943) novel of the same name before he or she realizes that there is considerable disagreement about the merits and flaws of this production.

Anyway, without giving too much away, the essence of the main plot is thus; Anna is the Rev Peter Boverie's apparently long-suffering wife. She is in her early forties. Increasingly, Anna discerns that she has become, over the twenty years or so of their 'togetherness', rather too tightly and robustly clamped by and within the ecclesiastical mechanism of the Church of England - along with its encumbent ritual duties, expectations, taboos and the like. The plot in both the book and in this DVD of Channel 4's production deals with the personal vicissitudes ... Read More

Many will tear this movie's ending apart stating is that all? But I would say the ending is the best part of the film. As Fesseden stated and I'm paraphrasing here: real horror is found in things that most people find acceptable. Many people would not find the Doctor's activities kind, but neither would they find them evil. This is the major point of this film, the ending is not a bang, although it is interesting but most people will probably wanted something really evil to have happened. But you see what he was doing was evil, he was tampering with nature in the most amoral way.
This movie dosen't end with a bang it ends with a question; where do your morals lie?
If this movie had ended with a bang it would have taken away from a great plot. Great Indy film.
