VHS : Echoes in the Darkness
To those from the King of Prussia Area (like myself), there are references and allusions to places (VF park, etc.) and some interesting exaggerated portrayal of characters, some of which I had for teachers (Pat Schnure, Vince Valaitis)

To those not from the area, it is still a sickening psychological drama that will keep you locked to the TV for the full 4+ hours (ended up watching it till 3 in the morning). The outcome is known, but the choppiness of the plot keeps the viewer actively watching, trying to figure out what has happend, and what is about to happen. The end of the movie with the cases ties everything together to leave the viewer highly satisfied. For those who like intellectually stimulating movies, a must-see. For those who are more interested in comedy, thrills, or ... Read More

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: From the Secret Files of Harry Pennypacker
Shadow Watcher
Nobody Drowns in Mineral Lake

Stanley R. Jaffe directed this excellent 1983 film, adapted by Beth Gutcheon from her novel, STILL MISSING, which was, in turn, based on an actual case of a missing child.

One morning, college professor Kate Nelligan watches her nearly seven-year-old son go off to school, only to discover later that he never arrived there. Judd Hirsch plays the NYC detective who leads the investigation that stretches over days and months, takes several wrong turns and, ultimately, appears to have a tragic conclusion.

But, unlike the real case, the producers have given this movie an unexpected happy, uplifting ending that is guaranteed to bring tears to ... Read More

VHS : The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh
Growing up in the 1970's, times were great. Big Wheels and Green Machines. Bomb Pops to Italian Ice. Mr. Softee and those amazing soft serve ice cream cones with sprinkles. Metal roller skates and banana seat bicycles. But nothing speaks more of the 70's than the movie, "The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh". In a time when things were more simple, The Fish, told a tale of a basketball team who needed a miracle, a found in the cards or should I say Psychic. Needless to say the moral of the story is about beliefs. It's OK to have beliefs in other things as along as you believe in yourself first. Now that I live in Atlanta, finding this great comedic tale was certainly an excellent find. "The Fish" reminds me of those summer days and simpler times, yet again saving me from what's going in the world today, if only ... Read More

VHS : Fortune, The
The Fortune was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. The acting is superb and it just gets crazier and still somehow plausible as it goes along. Why the critics didn't like it is too bad, but then they're usually wrong anyway. Ignore the critics, watch this wonderful film and enjoy the subtleties and humanity of real writing and acting and directing. Sadly, there are very few films this well made -and none that I can think of today.

VHS : Practical Magic (W/Documentary)
For those girls/women out there who like a good love story with all the toppings (sorrow, happiness, suspense, family bonding and of course magical romance), this movie is for you! Great acting, well scripted lines and wonderful story that keeps you wanting more. The soundtrack is super too (I own it as well as the movie). The movie is quite magical, one that you can watch with your family over and over again...

VHS : Applegates
Simply put, the Applegates are your typical nuclear family who wants nothing more than to nuke the human race. Seems simple enough for a group of cockroaches from the bowels of the Amazon forest, but, alas, nothing is simple when Ed Begley Jr, Stockard Channing, and Dabney Coleman round out a cast that discovers being human is more difficult than imagined. "The Applegates" was clever, funny, intelligent, poignant, and surprisingly shocking. From the beginning, with a group of volunteers trying to teach natives over the rumble of urban sprawl in the Amazon, to the very fun ending that makes you want to clap your hands and jump in excess, "The Applegates" represented an old style of cinema that is deeply missed in modern theaters. With a calling card that screams part "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" and part ... Read More

VHS : Where the Heart Is
I love this show. Ashley, Natalie and Stockard was excellent. The name of this movie matches it perfectly. If you have never seen it rent it first and then buy it. It is well worth the money. I strongly believe renting movies first after getting a couple that sucked big time. This is a 10 + Star type of movie.
