VHS : One Christmas
I think this movie was heart wrenching just because I think the child wanted so badly to be with his mom and dad but unfortunately it just couldn't be that way. I can't give the end of the film away but I'll tell you it is very bitter sweet. A nice clean family movie, worth buying, worth watching.

VHS : Gilbert & Sullivan - The Mikado (Stratford Festival)
This little book is a window into the endless wit of Gilbert's amazingly clever lyrics. A very enlightening glimpse into a classic of the genre.

VHS : Destry Rides Again
Marlene Dietrich and James Stewart make a great combination in "DESTRY RIDES AGAIN". This movie was directed by none other than George Marshall (who would remake it in 1954 starring Audie Murphy), was suggested by the novel "Destry Rides Again" by Max Brand, and co-starred Brian Donlevy, Mischa Auer, Charles Winninger, and Una Merkel. The basic story is quite simple, actually. The brawling town of Bottleneck is run with an iron fist by Donlevy, and one night, the town sheriff Keogh is "mysteriously" killed, and a new sheriff Washington Dimsdale (Winninger) previously the town drunk, is appointed for the job. But he feels that by himself, he will not be enough, so he summons Tom Destry, Jr. (Stewart) to come and help him out. What eventually happens in the end I would not dream of telling, but I feel ... I'd say if you're over 40 this movie has a lot of appeal. Yes, I took my 15-year-old, and he enjoyed it too, but old age is the place we all hopefully get to, and Eastwood and his friends are entertaining in this space action story about profession and life after retirement. Yes, the plot is a bit thin, and the non-stars are 2-dimensional, but humor and attention to detail make up for it. And there's just enough drama, and fast flying, to get your hearbeat going. Careful, though, not too fast!

VHS : Big Daddy (1999)
This is a funny story about how a lazy unmotivated guy learns responsibility after falling in love with a 5 yr old kid who was dropped off at his door. The kid was dropped off because his mother was dieing and she wanted the biological father to get a chance to assume responsibility before the option of foster care was elected. The boy is supposed to belong to his roommate who was away on business so Sandler gets this bright idea to take responsibility hoping it will show his girlfriend he can be responsible. Adam's character becomes more like a friend to the small boy instead of a parent and ends up making plenty of mistakes. In the end Sandler learns he loves this boy and will do what the has to to keep him. There are plenty of laugh out loud parts especially the clips where Sandler pokes fun with his ... Read More

VHS : Godmoney
First off, I want to say this is one of the most POWERFUL films I have ever seen. Darren Doane was on a budget and really impressed me with this movie. It's Apocalypse Now for the suburban teenagers. The movie is hardcore and the sound track is amazing (With bands like Blink 182, Pennywise, Downer, MXPX, Stavesacre, Rollins Band, Descendents, Guttermouth, Ten Foot Pole, Strife, AFI and Far). Godmoney is a story of urban survival. It is set in Los Angeles, and it is about a guy named Nathan who leaves New York and tries to forgive his past of crime, drug addiction and life on the streets (And what an intense past he's had, you aren't told about his past until further into this movie). Once in California he tries to put his life together, but is befriended by Matthew, a small-time dealer who recruits Nathan ... Read More

VHS : Cybertracker 2
Very good special effects, but mediocre acting. Only true professional appears to be Governor Quincy played by Dave Aranda-Richards, and the so-called director kills him off and the acting then gets ridicoulsly bad.
