VHS : The Original Buns of Steel
ok this video is a little bit outdated but i like it, it looks better than the sterile white boring backgrounds of current videos. the work out is challenging but after a while it gets easier to keep up and complete each set. the best thing about it is it really creates results!!

VHS : Am/Pm Callanetics
I picked this dvd up about 6 months ago. When I did the first routine it seemed so easy, so I didn't bother to do the pm routine. Thinking to myself this is a complete waste of time, because it seemed like I was barely moving. The next morning when I got up, I was so sore!!!!!!!!!!! Legs, butt and arms! I had to stretch to get myself loosened up. Then I went and did the am routine again. Also, this time, later on in the evening, I did the pm routine. My gosh does this work! I love this tape. The transformation it has done for my body is amazing. A couple of weeks later, I did work in a 30 minute cardio (treadmill or kickboxing for me) routine with it every other day. Now I am up to every day. Just give it time and you will see the results! I have since moved on to the Callanetics 1 hr. video. ... Read More

VHS : The Firm - The Firm Cross Trainers: Firm Strength
This is more of a glamour routing than anything else. Too busy -Greek/Roman statuettes in the background various sizes, huge fireplace, boring routine, and the participants' are so phoney. The instructor and the participants routine are more erotic than anything else. I couldn't bare doing the entire video. Oh and the music, too loud and didn't sync with the moves. This video had potential, if it wasn't for all that.

Now I know why I had it hidden for so many years behind my other exercise videos.

VHS : Cal Pozo's Learn to Dance in Minutes: Salsa Merengue
The salsa steps are out of touch with the real world. You may learn something but it will be while crushing your partner's foot like I did when coming out of the side mambo to the forward back salsa step. Nobody does this. Cal should visit some contemporary dance socials. Princeton, NJ

VHS : Playboy / Real Couples: Sex in Dangerous Places
OK, let's set the record straight. There's no scenes with Great Danes, electric chairs, or any of that nonsense. "Dangerous" here means "someplace where you might get caught". This includes at the gym, out in public, etc. They have real-life interviews with the couples before their episode. Keep your finger on the fast-forward button here, they are not worth the time. However, the sex is pretty good for a Playboy vid and the women are attractive. Worth the watch.

Watched the videos on two separate occasions and enjoyed them. I learned an incredible amount from the start of Rome 700BC to the fall of Constatinople in 1453AD.

A nice set of tapes for anyone.

It is false that there are significant battle scenes, however, the footage shown does provide some key points of interest.

Enjoy !

VHS : Cindy Crawford - The Next Challenge Workout
I have been doing this workout for years and I'm in better shape than any of my friends that frequent the gym. I have a few of my neighbors exercising with me and they all say that they are in the best shape of their lives, a personal trainer isn't as good as this video. This is not for a person that has not exercised for a while, or a beginner. You really have to work your way up to it, but it's worth the effort. I wish Cindy would make another exercise video as good as this one!

VHS : The Method - Pilates - Precision Toning
This is without a doubt...the best video I have ever bought! Jennifer Kries is a very good instructor. I sweat more doing this 45 minute tape, than ridding the stationary bike for an hour. Through my own experiance, you MUST regularly do this tape for at least 2 months before you will REALLY see results. I think I spent the first 2 months mastering the different moves. Then when I had done so...I could start concentrating on feeling the burn in my muscles. This tape WILL change the shape of your body...and you will see a difference, but you must stick with it. The Method Precision Sculpting video is also really good. I have been incorporating both tapes into my routine...and seeing the results I want.

VHS : Julius Caesar (1970)
I just finished teaching Julius Caesar to my sophomores, and we watched the 1952 black and white version as we read the play. The students asked me if I could find a color version, as they are all about technology. I found this version and was quite excited when I found this version.

My class is watching this as I write this review, and while I will show it again, I will only use it as a comparison to Brando's version. The acting, with the exception of Caesar, Calpurnia, and Portia, is horrible. I have never in my life seen such bad acting as I have seen with Brutus. Robards does a horrible job, and where he actually shows some emotion - in the argruement with Cassius - it is too little too late.

Students have told me that had they watched this version first, they would have completely lost interest ... Read More

It looks as though this video is made in the 70s, and the content seems to stuck in the 70s as well. Examples of the outdated info. in this video include: All doctors still give episiotimies, and Sex the last 6 weeks of pregnancy is forbidden. We couldn't have been more disappointed with this video. I would recommend the "Labor of Love" video instead. It is instructive, modern and moves at a good pace.
