VHS : Last of the Dogmen
Last Of The Dog Men ranks right up there with Dreamkeeper for me. This is a beautiful film to look at.With a great story and musical score. Like a great book,it grabs you from the beginning and carries you through till the end. The acting by all,is superb,as well.

How it treats the issue of this last surviving tribe is especially respectful and satisfying.

Once viewed, the scenery will never be forgotten. I don't believe anyone could be disappointed in this film.

VHS : Miracle in the Wilderness
I can't believe that this movie has never been released on DVD!!! Especially with all of the fame that Kim Cattrall got with her role in Sex and the City...I would think that it would have created more of a demand for the other things that she has acted in, but somehow this one seems to have been lost along the way somewhere! I first saw this movie on television many years back and later rented it on VHS. It left such an impact on me that I have been waiting and watching for it to come out on DVD ever since. It is a very touching movie...A wonderful twist on the traditional Christmas/Nativity story. Following is a description of the movie (written by Jason Ankeny, All Movie Guide):
"Derived from Paul Gallico's novella The Snow Goose, this Christmas fable stars Kris Kristofferson as ... Read More

Initially I was surprised at the time, that a film of this caliber, with a large cast and "epic" feel would even make it into the theater. Since modern Westerns don't tend to garner huge box office success, I was happy to see a significant amount of enthusiasm for the film. Though it stretches on in parts, the visual appeal, and the performances of the entire cast lend an authenticity that can't be ignored.

The strong lead in Cate Blanchett's character leads with a confidence that underscores her talent and capility of carrying a film. The film's scenary and "stillness" is beautiful and the time period is convincingly recreated.

The film blends mystical, supernatural elements, and creates a touching family drama, with the depth of character development and underlying themes ... Read More

I saw it the first week it was out for rental 11 years ago and have enjoyed it ever since. In fact, I probably enjoy this more each time I view it. It's a sick movie, though, make no mistake about that. However, it holds a strange fascination, probably because of the odd characters.

This is NOT a true story as indicated in the movie. That's a lie. It's a fictional kidnapping-turned into murder story with a few bloody scenes, lots of profanity (most of it by Steve Buscemi) and a pure "black comedy."

Both William H. Macy and Frances McDormand have some wonderful facial expressions along with their accents. Those two and Buscemi are the lead characters and all three "are a trip." Macy is hilarious; the best character in here, in my opinion. It's also the best role, I assume, ever for ... Read More

Brothers P. D. (Danny Nucci) and A. J. (Del Zamora), in an effort to keep possession of their family property, a languishing New Mexico ranch, undertake a series of somewhat quixotic projects to raise money in this delightful film that has vanished into the memory hole, due primarily to its extremely localized (southern New Mexico) flavour and dialects, notwithstanding its enthusiastic reception at Sundance. Director/scriptor Reverge Anselmo's initial effort displays an awareness of the significant and unique Southwestern U. S. quality of light, an essential element within the film's mise-en-scene, and effective editing helps in sharply contrasting daylight and night scenes, serving also to heighten new and rediscovered romantic liaisons. Each role is written to foster its further development and the four leads accept ... Read More
