Irwin Allen's follow-up to "The Poseidon Adventure" was a star studded spectacle with wonderful special effects and lots of suspense. Starring Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Faye Dunaway and William Holden. Music by John Williams. Look for Maureen McGovern singing "We May Never Love Like This Again".

VHS : Magnificent Seven
This movie was made in the days before film-makers realized that people were sophisticated enough to recognize corn when they saw it. Horz Bucholz's impetuous kid act was just total corn. Talk about bad acting. Robert Vaughn deliberately affects some kind of bizarre weakling voice quality.

The whole premise of the movie was that the villagers were wothless cowards but Bronson goes off his head proclaiming how brave they are because they're dirt scratching farmers. The 40 banditos ride into the village and the hired guns(the seven) expose themselves in positions where they could easily be shot by less than half of 40 banditos.

The banditos get the drop on the seven when the seven return to the village and the ultimate in movie absurdity happens. The banditos let ... Read More

I have been trying to locate this movie for my boyfriend on/off for many years. He kept talking about it, but it was difficult to find. The movie came quickly and in good condition. The movie itself was very clear and visually sharp. I was suprized. My boyfriend and I enjoyed watching it together so much. I recommend, at this time, your e-bay site. Thank you!!!

We showed this movie at the theatre I worked at when it first came out. Except for the Martian-fearing sailor, overall I thought it was funny (I just don't care for silly comedy - hence only 4 stars). I am a particular fan of the Hutton/Prentiss comedy pair-up.

VHS : The Sand Pebbles
The Sand Pebbles is a Steve McQueen vehicle, no doubt one of his best movies, but it is also the unacknowledged epic of the sixties, when the genre began to decline as a mere Hollywood spectacle and was becoming a more thoughtful, more complext adventure that took on momentous themes--like the emergence of China as an independent country and world power. Add Candice Bergen, at her freshest, Richard Attenborough emerging as a key figure in movies, and several Hollywood veterans, like Richard Crenna, and you have a mix that offers both entertainment and a thoughtfully staged adventure, replete with exotic locales, suspenseful clashes, and a gripping ending. Longish, but nearly flawlessly directed by Robert Wise. The blu-ray edition restores it to its original glory.

8.The Blob starring: Steve McQueen, Aneta Corsaut, Earl Rowe, Olin Howland, Alden 'Stephen' Chase

VHS : The Blob
There are a few movies that I would consider very priceless and classic to the creature flick genre, the first and foremost being The Creature From The Black Lagoon and possibly Attack of the Giant Leeches. But The Blob is special in it's own way, not just because it is a classic. What this gave birth to was the sub genre of creature flicks that featured a pathetically stupid antagonist, in this case a gigantic gelatinous pile of goo. This is, in some ways, a science fiction flick too, because The Blob does come from space. In the time that the beast spreads its greasy reign of chaos, it eats several residents of a small suburban town. When it sneaks into a movie theater, a classic shot is spawned when what feels like hundreds of innocent bystanders (a mildly impressive amount of extras anyway) race out ... Read More

VHS : Tom Horn
I saw this movie, when it first landed in theaters. It is a little western. Will Penny was(is) a little Western--Will Penny is great--Tom Horn is less than great--Steve M. wants you to beleive he is like the real Tom Horn...I found it all very pretendious--McQueen should have done better---they say he was feeling bad--sickness that would end his life--Steve was a great actor--throw this movie and his last movie(the hunter) out--watch Steve in Nevada Smith--Bullitt---Love with a proper Stranger--Cincinnati Kid--Sand Pebbles--The Mag Seven--The Great Escape--Forget Tom Horn and The Hunter because I think he was sick when he made these films--there's only one Steve Mcqueen and who ever he WAS is not in these forgetable films--

VHS : Great Escape
I ordered this for my dad's birthday, thinking it would be something he would like and something that I would have no interest in. My brother watched it with him, and then told me that it was really good and that I should watch it.
So I did.
I was very pleasantly surprised - I am not into war-type, adrenaline-laden, "guy" movies, but, even though this could easily fit into any of those categories, I still found it very enjoyable!
Suspense, excitement and drama are balanced with enough character development and ordinary "human moments" to make a very well-made, well-acted movie with memorable characters, touching moments, Steve McQueen's unforgettable motorcycle chase, and, of course, The Great Escape!
Highly recommended for anyone who likes good movies, genre notwithstanding.
