I agree with everybody that has posted reviews about this movie, but the ones that have only 1 or 2 stars. In the style of Gone With the Wind, the novel shows how families were at first united, then separated during the conflict. I am familiar with the historical facts and that is why I could follow the locations and time, but someone who has not read the book or know little about the true facts would be a little lost. I was lucky to get this movie on DVD. The sound and the colors are great, the photography is very good, the landscapes and the sets believable, picture is sharp except for the stolen parts from an earlier movie. I am giving the movie 4 stars because of the battle scenes (the ones made for this movie), even considering it was a made for TV movie, they could have been choreographed ... Read More

VHS : Jesus of Nazareth (3pc)
This video is not as biblically accurate as I was led to believe by the other reviews. I purchased this to augment my bible study teaching so I may be a little tougher on the movie then most people. Dramatic license is taken in several places because of the need to let the viewer know some of the backround as well as the portraying of the actual incidents in Jesus' life. The movie is already 6 hours long so I can understand the necessity of this but some of decisions by the producer are almost ridiculous. Young Jesus is portrayed by a young man with blue eyes, blond hair, and the whitest skin I've ever seen on someone from the middle east. All in all though, the movie has some cool parts and is worth watching. I would recommend it.

So much better than all the schlock crap that is being peddled as "spoof" today. This is a truly funny movie. It will go down in history as setting a standard that has yet to be reached in its genre. Classic horror comedy at its finest!

VHS : American History X
This is an amazing movie where Edward Norton gives a spectacular performance. Edward Norton starts out as an unrepentant white supremacist but after his jail experience, he comes out trying to save his younger brother from that life. It is an amazing movie about how racism and hatred doesn't get you anywhere and leaves last ripples. It is somewhat graphic so it is not for the younger crowd. It's amazing from start to finish and the ending leave you stunned (and I cried). It is a must own for anyone who enjoys drama films, Edward Norton, and movies with a lesson behind them.

VHS : Brewster Mccloud
Memo to whomever owns the copyright for Robert Altman's movies: You must do a restoration job and release the DVD all over again. I realize that amazon.com does not list a Brewster McCloud DVD or sell it. I am writing this for the benefit of people who have bought the DVD from the "animefirst.com" web site. I did that, and I am missing the fine detail that I vividly recall seeing in previous viewings in the theater and on VHS cassette.

Every reviewer on this page is reviewing that videocassette version of Brewster McCloud. I don't see any complaints about the fine detail. So I am chiming in here to help animefirst customers who expect a DVD that is on a par with MASH, Nashville and other Robert Altman classics. Animefirst either does not display customer reviews, or it does not display them as prominently ... Read More

It would have been better if they would have taken an extra 15 mins. and showed the true back story of Bruce/Batman. For those who don't know, they should have had a few scenes of Bruce going to the theater with his parents and Joe Chill shooting his mother and father and the aftermath of that and a little bit of his childhood. In the comics it is refered to quite a bit either in flashback or as a mini story at the begining. In Superman Animated it shows Kal-El/Clark going through his 3 episode beginnings with the death of millions so go figure! Joe Chill was only featured on the episode of Justice League Unlimited called For the Man Who Has Everything.

A good police drama with fine acting by all. This is not an action film like most current police-related films, but an absorbing film.
