I wish they'd do this one on DVD, because MArty takes the classic Legion Etrangre film (Gary Cooper 1939) and trashes it the way Mel Brooks did "Blazing Saddles" on the Western Genre..... Marty Feldman is a fogotten comic in the vein of Laurel and Hardy or Buster Keaton... When he plays second fiddle.... you laugh a lot!!!!!! DO IT IN DVD......PLEASE!!!

VHS : Monty Python's Life of Brian
A lot has been said and do not wish to repeat it. In my mind this is by far the most complete and timeless of the Monty Python classics ... I personally love The Meaning of Life but it resonates mostly with those coming of age in the 70s and early 80s as many of the topics were current then (sex education, antiwar sentiment etc).

Life of Brian will never lose its appeal but it requires a copy with English subtitles even for native English speakers to catch all the brilliance.

It is moreover an essential piece of work in bringing about religious understanding and tolerance. Whether you are a believer or not it is healthy in a free society to challenge the very institutions they are built on and remind us all not to take anything too seriously. Those who find it offensive ... Read More

I used to watch this constantly when I was a kid, and would recommend it to any parent. The classic animation infused with the timeless music is a wonderful way to entertain a kid for endless hours (as my parents quickly found out). To this day, when I hear "Baby Love" by the Supremes I think of Dumbo, and "When I Grow Up to Be a Man" by The Beachboys, I think of Donald Duck and his nephews racing around in a 60's era sports car. Its hard to tell by the cover but this movie is a real gem that I can say for certain, from my own experience, is an invaluble addition to any parents movie collection.

This DVD was awsome... it told the whole lives of the Marx brothers! The only thing that I would change, would be to talk more about Zeppo. He was apart of the Marx bros too and it would have been nice to hear more about his life! It's not the same without Zeppo! But otherwise it's a great DVD!

GREAT, esp. Stranger in Paradise and Indian Love Call must be seen to be believed -- and even THEN you won't believe it! The usual sight gags and silly slapstick; more skits than the first vol. Enjoy!

VHS : The Great McGonagall
The joke is that William McGonagall, famous still today for being the world's worst poet, was actually a not unsuccessful comedian. His humour was peculiarly Scottish, and might best be described as pawky. Instead of rotting away as an unemployed weaver, he made a decent living as a rotten versifier --- and declamatory tragedian. People flocked to hear his recitals because they were so famous for being so awful, and McGonagall cried his way to the bank. The real joke was on those who didn't get the joke. The same applies to this film. In one sense it's abysmal, but that's the point. Most of Spike's work is like this. At the same time he was the author of what the London Times recently called the funniest joke ever written. Still, I can't quite give this supremely barmy performance 5 stars.
