There's a dialect coach listed in the credits, and her license should be yanked. And burned. Those accents are the worst I've ever heard in any number of crappy movies set in New Orleans. To be fair, maybe the plot was worthwhile, or maybe the performances got better as things developed. But we couldn't listen to it for more than 10 minutes.

I've loved this movie for years and bought this dvd to replace my old vhs version. I was surprised to find only one disc and moreso to discover that it is reversible. When it came to the end of side one I wasn't sure what to do, but tried flipping it over and sure enough, there was side two. I didn't know there was such a thing and a couple of friends I asked didn't know it either. I don't buy a lot of current dvd's, maybe this is old stuff, but it was news to me..lol..

I met and married my very own 'Hawkeye' about five years after this show came and went. It was really enjoyable, entertaining TV, oh, so much better than horrible staged 'reality shows' and everything else that's on. Recently my outdoorsy husband was extolling the virtues of Lynda Carter, and I said 'hey -- do you remember that show she was on -- Hawkeye?' Indeed he did! So this will be a fitting anniversary present -- only I wish it were a DVD!!!!

So Bond may be a "dinosaur" but he took a slight evolutionary step forward with Pierce Brosnan who at the time seemed born to play Bond. So it was the 90s, the coldwar had thawed out, so-called political correctness was in the air and so what's a "sexist", coldwar warrior, relic of the 1960s to do? Well, pretty much what he's always done. Because really the world hadn't changed so much that women don't no longer go for cocky, smooth talking alpha-males (no matter how p.c. things get) and governments don't use remorseless assassins to spy and kill for them. Heh, Bond's new boss, a woman (it's the 90s see) by the name of "M", calls Bond a dinosaur but she sure does need him and he's still popular with movie goers. Somethings don't change I guess and sometimes that's a good thing... A James Bond that doesn't ... Read More

There is something so beautiful about this movie, and yet I find it hard to explain. I try to recall this movie whenever I run into someone I can not find redeemable. Sometimes you can only focus on the bad, and sometimes you only focus on the good, and sometimes you discover the middle.

Victor Joseph and his friend Thomas are taking a road trip. Thomas and Victor are on their way to pay their last respects to Victor's dad who was living in Phoenix. Victor needs some financial assistance and Thomas is willing to help so long as he can go with. Victor needs to come to grips with his past, how he feels about his father who has passed away and he hasn't seen in 10 years, he needs to stop living with a mask on. Thomas seems terribly annoying, but it's Thomas recollections of everything good that help Victor ... Read More

Initially I was surprised at the time, that a film of this caliber, with a large cast and "epic" feel would even make it into the theater. Since modern Westerns don't tend to garner huge box office success, I was happy to see a significant amount of enthusiasm for the film. Though it stretches on in parts, the visual appeal, and the performances of the entire cast lend an authenticity that can't be ignored.

The strong lead in Cate Blanchett's character leads with a confidence that underscores her talent and capility of carrying a film. The film's scenary and "stillness" is beautiful and the time period is convincingly recreated.

The film blends mystical, supernatural elements, and creates a touching family drama, with the depth of character development and underlying themes present between Cate and ... Read More

This movie is the only one I've come across so far that is filmed
entirely from the Indians' point of view.

The fact that the Natives speak English and the Whites gobbledygook
makes it possible for the viewer to relate to them much better than in
movies where they speak native languages. Brilliant idea!

I liked that the Indians were using "White" tools and clothes. There are many movies depicting the mid- to late 1800s in which whole tribes are still clad entirely in buckskin, which is not realistic because by that time, Indians had been in contact with Whites for about 300 years.

"Big Bear" proves that you don't need loincloths and leggings to tell a
story about Indians. You first and foremost need convincing characters portrayed by good actors. "Big Bear" has those - and more!
