It has some funny moments but overall it's not good. Fans of the cartoon series will certainly love it.

VHS : Dave
This movie is very fun, and Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver are excellent in it.

Kevin Kline plays two parts in the movie, Dave and President Bill Mitchell. Dave operates a temp agency and also makes a few extra bucks playing President Bill Mitchell.

The night Mitchell is to give an important speech Dave is used as a decoy so that the real President can make it to the speech without the press hounding him. After the speech though the President meets up with one of his aids and while having sex has a massive stroke.

The Presidents advisers do not want the American people to know because they don't like Vice President Nance. They convince Dave to pretend to be Dave for a few months, which at first he does not want to do. They convince him though and for ... Read More

VHS : Ghostbusters 2
this film was more creppy than the original in so many elements: the slime was growing when people were p*ssed off. the scoleri brothers were scarier than slimer the song monologue when the ghostbusters were in the nuthouse Vigo the painting shows up more than Gozer in part one. Though there are punchlines that people might repeat such as the "sometimes s**t happens", it could've work better as a comedy like the original. Anyway, this is the only sequel i watch during my senior year because there were somethings that made me freaked out. I have the entire soundtrack and I get crazed on the sequel whenever I'm scared or in a jolly mode. This if the first movie you should see on Halloween then the original and so forth.

VHS : 1492 - Conquest of Paradise (Widescreen Edition)
I go to movies for entertainment, and unless the movie has been touted as a 100%, bona fide accurate portrayal of the subject, then I have no problem if facts are embellished. This is Ridley Scott's vision of Christopher Columbus and his quest for the New World, and he has artistic license to create his vision and in my opinion did so magnificently with this film. I never got the feeling that Columbus was made a hero by this movie. The portrayal I saw was of a deeply flawed, brilliant man who did in fact commit great wrong against the natives, and returned to Europe completely demoralized. A broken man. And enough about Depardieu's accent. I understood him most of the time and even when I didn't, I still understood at least what was going on. I thought his acting was impeccable. The character of ... i had read the novel years ago but had never seen the film version, so when it was offered here, i ordered it with great expectations. maybe i forgot the story & overestimated it, but this is one of the Worst films made. Sigourney Weaver is Awful , a very stilted performance, awkward and spooky, slow, not moving, unsympathetic, not at all how i would have cast it. so i didn't watch it to the end. someone told me several yrs ago that it wasn't good but i wanted to see for myself.
sorry i invested in it, should have looked for a rental, but even that would've been too much money for this pic.

VHS : Alien Resurrection (Thx)
This movie was difficult to rate, mostly because it was so weird. There are shades here of Chronicles of Riddick and Resident Evil 3. Consistently dark, not especially plausible, slightly mind-numbing, and yet fairly original and even in some respects thought-provoking. At the end of the movie one is left with the impression that we are all monsters to some degree, and that what makes us human is not our flesh and blood, but our compassion. Definitely not Joss Whedon's best writing, but worth watching some Saturday when you have not in particular to do.

I read this book often with my students. It's extremelely well written and engaging for children. When the movie first came out, I cautioned my students that they may be disappointed in the way the book has been translated to the big screen. Much to my surprise, the movie is great!

9.Ice Storm starring: Kevin Kline, Joan Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Henry Czerny, Tobey Maguire

VHS : Ice Storm
The Ice Storm directed Ang Lee is a strange and provocative film about swingers and families on the brink of chaos. An all-star helps which include Kevin Kline, Joan Allen, Tobey Maguire, and Christina Ricci. The characters are mainly lost and self-absorbed so don't expect strong and kind people here. Ricci's character is pretty sick and vile but she nails the performance. The ending is a bit of a letdown, this film is a mixed bag for me.
