Most of Nelson and Jeanette films will make you sing and smile and once
in a while make you shed a tear. I always wanted to know why my mom
cried looking at their movies years ago when i sat on her lap while they
played on tv in the early sixties. Now that im older, and have just seen
this movie, i also shed a tear for this delightfull tale of love.

I throughly enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to any one who enjoys good music. The plot was entertaining and you were hoping that his wife would win out in the end. A good way to spend a couple of hours.

What happens when you mix the late Jack Benny, Carole Lombard, Robert Stack with Adolph Hitler? One very funny comedy. The script is great, very fast moving, and truly enjoyable to watch. Black and white never looked so elegant.

And don't forget to watch the extra feature, too. Very funny situational comedy called 'The Rounder.'

You may have never heard of it, but it is a classic to watch and to share with your friends and family.

Jeanette and Nelson movies succeeded more when done in black and white, and especially where Nelson was the hero and Jeanette the kind of damsell in distress..but there was always adventure...great sets and great
singing...
In Bittersweet, Nelson does'nt look like himself compared to other films,
maybe his health was not the best ... i even remember this film from
my youth and even then i knew that this one was not like the others.
Hey, Nelson and Jeanette only made 8 films together ...so Bittersweet
for all fans is also a must see and a keeper for the collection.

If you love Jimmy Stewart, this is the movie for you. Jimmy Stewart portrayed Glenn Miller with style and grace. Love it!

The scenes with the service men is very special to my family as my father was in this film and can be clearly seen. When this movie was on TV when I was growing up, we always watched it no matter the time of day. Now we can watch it over and over and pause it to get a better look.

VHS : Comrade X

After the release of Ninotchka there was an attempt to explore and exploit and blend the love with the political consequences of living in a country placed behind the iron' s curtain. Nevertheless King Vidor `s only minor film is precisely this one in which nothing happens, due perhaps the narrowness of its limits.

VHS : Love Crazy
I saw "Love Crazy" on TCM a few months ago, and I thought it was one of funniest movie (Screwball) comedy I have ever seen. I won't spoil if for you, but this man is very in love with his wife, and will do almost anything to keep her and his marriage intact, but a busy body mother-in-law will also do anything to break up the marriage for her daughter to a man she don't like.
To what length the husband will go, is what makes this movie so wonderful to watch, you will laugh at some of the thing he does to keep his wife. Man, he must really loves her.
We have had movies of mother-in-laws interfering in they children marriage before this movie and after this movie, but I think this is one the funniest, and it has the ever beautiful Myrna Loy as the wife, and William Powell as the husband. Their chemistry is just good ... Read More

VHS : Desperate Journey
Of all the actors of the 40s who made WWII-themed films, Errol Flynn was second only to John Wayne in raising critics' ire for 'winning the war single-handed'. His civilian status was ridiculed, although Flynn HAD in fact, attempted to enlist, but had been rejected (despite his robust appearance, it was discovered he had an 'athlete's heart', plus traces of malaria and TB he had contracted in his youth). Even with the negative press, Flynn's unique status as an Australian who was also an American movie star made him ideal as a morale booster for not only wartime American audiences, but audiences overseas, as well.

"Desperate Journey" was certainly the most incredible of his war films, with it's 'over-the-top' action, and wildly improbable plot (downed fliers reap havoc on moronic Nazis, then safely return to England in a ... Read More

VHS : A Night at the Opera
I didn't fully appreciate this film until my second viewing. Now I think it's one of the better Marx Brothers film. The film - filled with funny lines - has all the familiar MB trappings: good slapstick, good and bad jokes and routines, wild scenes, several musical numbers and general overall chaos.

The only thing not appealing to me in the film were some of the songs - not all, just some. Otherwise, it was all fun as Groucho, Chico and Harpo all share humorous lines and/or sight gags. This is the film with the famous scene involving a ton of people being stuffed into Groucho's small cabin room. It's more amazing than funny. My favorite scenes were when Groucho and Chico got into discussions and trade lines back-and-forth. I also laughed heartily at the finale with Harpo swinging like Tarzan at the opera house.

In all, a funny MB film, ... Read More
