VHS : Ninja III: The Domination
Ninja III: The Domination gets five stars from me for the martial arts sequences. Lucinda Dickey does many of her own stunts here, too---some quite impressively. This picture really deserves a DVD release soon.

VHS : Enter the Ninja
The film begins with a very impressive display of weaponry skills by none other than Sho Kosugi in full Ninja uniform, including sai, shinobi-gatana, tonfa, nunchaku, manriki {bola}, blowgun, shiroken, bow & arrow, and spear-staff. Blend into white ninja {color indicative of novice/apprentice} amidst the wilderness undergoing his final "law of the jungle" test until recognized as full Ninja calibre; he is attacked by several red ninjas on his way back to the dojo, expertly defending himself until facing the Shidoshi himself, shockingly beheading him before entering in for judgement {this was a mere test to decipher whether or not he would be able to assassinate someone familiar to him to fulfill a mission, as many times an enemy would employ such illusionary tactics to distract from the ... VHS : Aloha Summer
Just surfing around thru Amazon and found this title. Reminded me that I need to dig out my copy and watch again. A really great little film. Not Oscar-worthy, but just a nice little picture with some really deep ideas buried within it. I just wish someone would reissue this as a dvd.

5.Pray for Death starring: Shô Kosugi, James Booth, Donna Kei Benz, Norman Burton, Kane Kosugi
directed by: Gordon Hessler
November 21, 1991
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Pray for Death
PRAY FOR DEATH is a fairly typical small collection of primarily older Euro-fright films. These middling movies still hold some shocks here and there, however. A nice set for horror film completists.

SYNOPSES:

"Night Of The Death Cult" - This fourth installment of the "Blind Dead" series has the Knights Templar haunting a fishing village.

"Satanic Rites Of Dracula" - The last entry in the Lee/Cushing Dracula series has modern-day Scotland Yard investigating a case of vampirism.

"Sisters Of Death" - A rather depressing class reunion of sorts is central to this film.

"The Werewolf And The Vampire Woman" - Lesbian vampires- what more could a boy ask for?

A similar BRENTWOOD DVD set is their CIRCUS OF DEATH 4 MOVIE PACK.

VHS : Revenge of the Ninja
I purchased the newer VHS copies of the 3 movies in this series back in 2000, so when this dvd was released I saw that it was still in standard format and passed. Today I ended up watching the dvd and was shocked to discover that the VHS copy contained an edited version of the film with MUCH less gore. When watching my tapes I had thought that I remembered there being a bit more to some of the kills but had attributed that to simply being false memories from my childhood. Now I see that I was correct in my suspicions.

If you're a fan of this series of films that passed on this DVD for the same reason as I did, this is a definite must purchase disc! Now if only they'd release NINJA III on dvd.

7.Master Ninja starring: Lee Van Cleef, Sho Kosugi, Timothy Van Patton
June 21, 1995
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Master Ninja
Master Ninja is nothing but two episodes of the TV series "The Master" repackaged and poorly edited into one movie. If that weren't shameful enough, the actual episodes selected for the movie are downright laughable. When we see Lee Van Cleef riding on top of a crook's car, he reaches through the broken windshield and actually pulls the steering wheel off while the criminal is still driving. One of the silliest things I've ever seen, by far. No guest star in the world could save this flop of a tape, and don't expect to see too much of Demi Moore by the way.

The plot is a nice idea: blind martial artist. The writers, and especially Rutger Hauer, have fun with it, and the fun comes right across :-)
