VHS : Kill Me Later
I liked the absurdities in this film, but the chemistry between Selma Blair, and Max Beesley was also great.

A bank teller ( Blair ) decides to 'off' herself by jumping from the roof of her bank building, while the bank is in the process of being robbed. One of the robbers ( Beesley ) is chased back into the bank, and up to the roof just in time to grab the would-be suicide, and then, of course, threatens to kill her when a cop corners him. The robber manages to get the cop to back down. He then makes a deal with his hostage, telling her he'll kill her later if she helps him escape. Things begin getting complicated when the two of them start to like each other. I must admit that I was cheering the unlikely duo on, pretty much from the moment they began sharing screen-time.

This movie was very lame. I bought it because henry Winkler was in it. he is not in it very much, and the other Freddie Prince, Jr. and Julia Stiles ruined the movie with their bad acting, and nonattractiveness. Henry was good.

I didn't like how the story resolved itself in the end, but the cast and production were great. The dialogue was terrific. Amateurish or self-consciously neo noir? Perhaps, but it did a better job as an homage to that genre than "Brick" or "Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang." I didn't read the book so I am just judging the film on its own terms. I say it's worth two hours of your time and a few bucks.

The Sweetest Thing

What a FUNNY movie!!!!!! Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate along with Jason Batemon are just too hilarious in this movie. The movie is so light and fun, and you just love watching the situations that these two friends find themselves in. The humor isn't slapstick, it's just true and well written.

VHS : Cruel Intentions
I was 14 years old when Cruel Intentions came out, and to my middle-school sensibilities it was absolutely the sexiest, most dramatic, decadent movie I could imagine. Of course now, I can see it for what it is, but I don't really enjoy it any less. Cruel Intentions updates the story of Dangerous Liaisons into a modern Manhattan prep school, and the story translates remarkably well. The youthful cast acquit themselves remarkably well, hitting just the right notes of entitlement and self-doubt. The story is melodramatic, but sharply written, not too long and with just enough mocking self-awareness to keep from being to ridiculousely serious. Cruel Intentions is a teen movie that teeters on the edge of eroticism (i.e. a remarkably chaste lesbian kiss), allowing its target audience to emulate the characters in the way that matters most; ...
