VHS : Catherine Cookson's The Girl
****SPOILERS ****
I normally enjoy the Catherine Cookson movies, but this one was so ridiculous I had to comment on it. I found Hannah to be such an unsympathetic character for being so meek and foolish and full of self-pity. How can she think it was ok to want to marry her half-brother? She took advantage of the well-meaning Fred and trampled on his hopes without a second thought. In comparison, we see her step-sister Margaret, who also experienced disappointment in love, go out and make something happen for herself. Hannah's treatment of her husband was appaling. Fred cared for her while she was sick (after roaming in the rain with another man on her wedding day) and took her on in good faith. In return she cheated on him and had the gall to expect to inherit all his possessions to ... Read More

I think this was an okay movie (maybe this is because I never saw the first one or the second one). I thought it was really, really stupid, but my friend and I liked the pizza singing part--we kept cracking up every few seconds. The movie had very cheesy effects, bad actors, and at some parts you are just disgusted by how bad a movie can be. Since I'm not the type of person that would walk away from a bad movie (I stuck through half of "Leatherface" before escaping that stupid movie by doing homework) I stuck through the end, and there are two good parts (one is the pizza). The second is very touching, when the wife remembers her husband with the projector thingy that was spilling memories out to her. That part was good too, but the rest of the movie just was plain boring, bad, and awful. ... Read More

Where to start, where to start....Well, I see on the main menu a 'Artist Index', so I decided to check out the Electric Flag first. And man they were in full flight on this day! Ripping through "Drinkin Wine". Everyone in the group is just smilin' ear to ear-thrilled to be up on this stage in front of the festivals second day Saturday afternoon crowd. I have a new idol. He's the bass playing big papa bear cool cat with the cheshire cat grin, the shades and the bushy goatee-one Harvey Brooks. Just watchin' this cat during this song always makes me smile :) This clip gives you a taste of the super smooth blues guitar of Mike Bloomfield and the fresh off the soul circuit Buddy Miles in white shirt, tie and suit thumping his drum kit like nobody's business. great footage. Actually all of the footage contained ... Read More

A very funny movie with Marily Monroe in a small but sexy role. Even if you're too young to remember all the actors it's a great light comedy fit for the entire family. There's also an optional commentary by Robert Wagner who appears in the film. Nice, light, funny movie.

Very engaging story thanks to the good looks of the main character Charlie who engages with several people throughout the movie. At times sad, at times scary, this is a movie that will have you frustrated as well as enthralled. The acting is superb and the situations unique.

I'm a fan of Gary Busey and I know this was one of his first movies and I know this was originally a B-movie, but his scenes were few and far between and without substance. This was even a poor B-movie. I tried my hardest to find some positive quality about this movie, but could not do it. The picture quality was poor, the acting was poor, the script was poor. I gave it one star, just because some of the bikes were sharp looking. I'd recommend many other biker movies over this one. Don't waste your time.
