Don't buy Shag on DVD. You will be very disappointed. Buy it on VHS because that is the original one. The person that remastered it to DVD did a lousy job by replacing the original songs with horrible ones that I never heard of. It made the movie uninteresting.

VHS : Ferris Bueller's Day Off
In 1985 (the year I was born people!) a certain movie was released that ultimately became a phenomenon. It has been labeled the movie of the 80's; the poster child for teen films everywhere. It is lauded by many and sparked a generation of look-alikes that are still being churned out even today. That movie is `The Breakfast Club'.

I hate that movie.

The following year the same writer/director behind the overrated slosh known as `The Breakfast Club' wrote and directed `Ferris Bueller's Day Off', yet another film that has been labeled a film of a decade. This time though, John Hughes hit it out of the park. There is no `corn' factor that was so prevalent in `The Breakfast Club'. Sure, there is dancing and obvious 80's flare, but this is a teen movie that can ... Read More

I disagree with the opening line of the Amazon Editorial review which says "Plot is a meaningless term when trying to describe Lost Highway". Frankly that's the answer for lazy people who don't like thinking as part of their movie-watching. [SPOILER (kinda) ALERT] The plot is an answer to a question: How do people deal with a reality so horrific they can't face it?

Also, if you've never seen a David Lynch film, you'll see that the anngles, the colors, the elements and scale in the shots, are all part of his mood setup and are jsut as important to what he's going for as the story is.

I thought it was a very sour script that left a sour taste. McMurtry on some sort of downer. The performances were excellent and the direction was nice. There was a nice accuracy of place & delineation of character. But too much vinegar.

Granted some reviewers have created a de facto plot line by arbitrarily deciding that some parts are reality, some dream & some symbolism, etc. but they ignore large parts that can't be fitted into their story line. It's important to note the film started out to be a TV series, its seems a reasonable assumption the movie was cobbled together out of scenes that were originally intended to be used in separate episodes with a different plot. I guess Lynch thought every scene was so precious he had to use them in regardless. The movie could have been cut down by 30-45 minutes and not lost a thing.

Sadly rewatching the movie didn't clear up a thing, I only saw more problems the second time. Can someone explain -

Who the laughing man is, what does he have and why is it worth ... Read More

I love this movie because he finally realized his best friend has always been there through thick and thin.... And he doesn't need to have a lot of money to impress a girl.... I also like to collect a lot of 80's movies.... My mom bought me this movie for my birthday....

This is billed as part of the Christmas Classic series. In truth it should be billed as the Christmas forgettable series. This is one of those humdrum, mundage animated Christmas specials that fail to capture even a tiny bit of the magic of some of the true classics like Rudolph or Frosty. Voices are provided by Travis Tritt, Nell Carter, and John Forsythe. It's a sappy story about how three orphans in the town Harmony look to give the the people of the town a gift and basically come up with Christmas Carols. It's a pretty weak premise to begin with and when you couple it with weak animation, and an annoying theme songs that plays over and over, this one adds up to a very forgettable holiday chunk of coal.

ROUTE 9, as you probably have guessed, is a pedestrian effort where you can easily guess the next line, the next scene, and possibly the amount of seconds between your eye rolls. There is nothing new here, yet it took 3 writers 18 months to cobble it together (I may not get my 102 minutes back, ... Read More
