I didn't know about this movie till about 2001-2002 when it came out on DVD, but when I first saw it I fell in love.
I've seen it about 10 times already, and still laugh every time. Mel Brooks is a genuous!
I love the audio commentary on the DVD, and the video screen menu.
The acting and sound quality was great for a 1980's movie.
Overall awesome Parody Movie, not like any of the ones you see today, like Epic Movies and stuff like that. (This Parody is a WHOLE lot better then those).

Haven't seen it? You need to. :)

VHS : Granny
This is a good movie for any horror movie fan ( like me ). I first discovered this moie when I saw Children of the Corn 2, I was looking up all the actors like Paul Scherror and Terence Knox, and Marty Terry, then I checked Ryan Bollman and then I found this and I bought it and watched it from there.

So a family wants to poison the Granny / mother on Thanksgiving, but little Amy gives it away and Granny has a heart attack.

When she dies, she comes back from the dead, killing the people at the morgue, her sons, neice, daughter in law, preacher that gave her a potion, and possessing little Amy.

When the zombies of the family are exploding, if you watch it real slowly, you can see the fake body and head they used for the effect of "David".

I think I am one of the few who actually paid to see this movie in the theater when it opend in '80. At the time I was a senior in HS. It still makes me laugh regardless of how many times I watch the DVD or VHS (yes I own both) over and over again. I loved the movie so much that I named my first Old English Sheepdog NewBomb. I had the name picked out and the breed of dog literally since I saw the movie even thouhg there isnt and OES in the flick. The next dog I got we named Dudley after Dudley Laywicker int he movie.. I was going to name the next dog Iron Box but though better of it! I have shown the movie to so many of my friends and family now that we quote lines from it to each other all the time... My puffer NewBomb, my pufffer! Movie snobs wont like it, but us regualr folks who remember fixing ... Read More

VHS : Mortal Kombat
When you take a video game where the whole game is simply one-on-one fighting, there is not much story to go with. Apparently the makers of this movie simply accepted that fact and said "so what?"

The action scenes are at times enjoyable, at times laughable, and at times boring. But more importantly, there are other ways they could have worked the use of fight scenes into this movie. That's one of the (few) things that they did better in the second film. Simply saying "we're here for a Mortal Kombat tournament" is easy but uninteresting.

That said, it is interesting the ways they worked in some of the elements of the games. Those would only really matter to fans of the plotless video game series.
