I watched this movie solely because Ben Browder was in the cast. I was delighted to find Kirstie Alley, as well. I found myself fast forwarding after the first few minutes, checked out Browder's performances, then went back and watched the whole thing to try to give it a chance. After reading other reviews, I guess I was bored because, although I am a fan of strong and independent women, I am in no way a feminist. I can only assume that's what colored my opinion, because none of these characters made me care about them, but they deserve at least 3 stars for making me want to throw things at the TV. I saw this movie for the first time this month (Nov.2008) and can't believe I some how missed it in the theaters. I highly recommend this if you like Kate Winslet as I she played a great part in the film. I also never knew much about the German Enigma machine, so this movie really perked my interest in it's use and origin. Keeps you interested the whole time you're watching. Ed

I highly recommend this movie to all who are favorably interested in Good Selkie/Mermaid movies. The plot is very well done following the myths and legends well. The setting in Ireland is also excellent. During the movie the Selkie speaks alittle about her world/home, and she uses her magic to help two humans in need. The movie also involves a love story.

I was very disappointed by this movie (nothing against the seller; the DVD is perfect quality). I saw the play a few years ago and enjoyed it very much but this adaptation is not at all what I was expecting. A real shame.

Yes, I am impressed! I remember playing the video games of the same name back in the day, and this movie stuck to the plot of the games as best it could. Decent sci-fi action, and decent acting make for an enjoyable movie.

I am not here to critique any of the other reviewers who gave this film 5 stars, who called it "ambitious and mesmerizing", which this film is far from. Just here to warn you that this self-indulgent, boring and "Lynch" wannabe should be viewed with a laugh track of its own. Maybe a drinking party game, where every time someone viewing this film says "huh?'", you take a shot. You'll be passed out in no time. And speaking of time...don't waste it on this one.

Lets face it, it's not Jaws, it was never supposed to be but as far as shark movie's go, I don't think Deep Blue Sea was all that bad, I mean come on the scene with Samuel L. Jackson? That was pretty cool.
