VHS : Town That Dreaded Sundown
The year is 1946 and while some last minute soldiers are still making their way home, most of them are already back from the war and are starting up families, going to work or school, or just enjoying their time at home. Little did they know that on this day, Sunday, March 3rd, that a hooded killer would begin his onslaught right here in Texarkana, Arkansas. They call him The Phantom Killer and his legacy begins here and now.

This film is in some desperate need of restoration and an official DVD release, for that matter. The dated film reel is too dark during most of the scenes I wanted to see most, which is just about every scene with The Phantom Killer since most of his kills take place at night. I feel it hurts the film more than anything. If it was just grainy throughout the ... Read More

I bought this video after reading a book by author Jason Moss entitled THE LAST VICTIM which explored the complexities of the notorious CLOWN KILLER a.k.a. JW Gacy. What I was disappointed in was that this documentary by A&E repeats the same clips throughout the entire piece and the narration is nothing we haven't heard in the news. I was hoping to learn what the media had not told us, as this was an optional assignment for a college criminology class, and I was hopeful that it would shed light on the sickness that was John Gacy. This video fell far short and I should have saved my money.

VHS : Live and Let Die
Roger Moore's maiden voyage as James Bond -- and the third different actor in the role in three consequetive films -- is actually a fairly entertaining movie with the usual set pieces, babes, and Moore's laid back performance. Tom Mankowicz (who wrote for both Connery and Moore) had the best observation. In the scene where Moore enters the Fillet of Soul in Harlem, if you have Connery you know there is going to be a fight. Jane Seymour's big break, Yaphet Koto as Kananga/Mr. Big, Julius Harris as his henchman "T" and David Hedison in his first outing as Bond's CIA buddy Felix Leiter. The first 007 since DR. NO not to be scored by John Barry, the music is courtesy of Sir George Martin (who produced the Beatles records) with a title song (and an energetic one at that) by Paul McCartney and Wings. ...
