VHS : The Miracle (1959)
It is truly a shame that this film is not available on DVD in this age of technology! Furthermore...[.....]..ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I already have a copy on VHS and I bought it brand new...and no...it did not cost anywhere near [.....]. That is a total rip off. The movie is entertaining, but it's not that good and most people have never heard of it. Why the scandalous greed when it comes to selling a copy of a VHS? I am just going to have my copy transferred to DVD and I will sell them for [.....] bucks a whop. I'm an incurable romantic and a Catholic and that is why this movie appealed to me. Believe me...it's no great drama, but if you are a romantic like myself, you will enjoy it very much.

VHS : Bond: View to a Kill
People who rave about this movie, it makes me wonder .. have you ever seen a Bond before (Particularly the early ones with Sean Connery and the Moore films LALD, TPWLM, FYEO & OP). This is a bad film no ifs ands or buts. Period. The plot is warmed over GOLDFINGER with Christopher Walken over the top as an East German superman experiment out of control as Max Zorin. Grace Jones bizaare as May Day, Tanya Roberts totally unbelievable as Stacy Sutton, geologist. The opening has Bond in the artic retrieving a micro-chip off a dead agent. This sparks a wild chase by Russian soldiers on skies. Bond starts on a captured snowmobile which gets blown up and the front fender becomes a snowboard, with Moore shooting down the snowy slopes to the Beach Boys "California Girls" !!! Lois Maxwell ... VHS : Bond: For Your Eyes Only
I just watched this movie for the first time and didn't see the Moore films as they came out, so my opinion isn't colored by nostalgia or affection for Roger Moore. In fact, I had only started watching the classic Bond films a few years ago.

I've always been a bit lukewarm to Moore's portrayal of 007 as he seemed a bit overly formal and stiff when compared to the graceful yet rugged qualities of Sean Connery and more recently, Daniel Craig. However, most of the reviews from Bond fans I've read seemed to indicate that this film and the Spy Who Loved Me were the two best Moore films; with people citing FYEO as having the "back to basics" approach to the franchise with Ian Fleming style espionage at the forefront.

While it compares favorably to the rest of the Moore films, it's just ... Read More

VHS : Andy Hardy's Double Life
Andy Hardy's Double Life brings a shift to the Andy Hardy series. Andy (Mickey Rooney) has decided to go to college and is trying to tie up loose ends before he is off. He has decided to break it off with Polly (Ann Rutherford) though trying to be aloof ends with the two becoming engaged. Not only that, but Polly's friend (Esther Williams) uses Andy for her psychology studies and winds herself as Andy's fiancee too. Also, Andy tries to sell his old car to pay for the transportation of his new car to his town. Judge Hardy (Lewis Stone) has his own problems. He is trying to solve a case involving a little boy (Robert Blake) so he can accompany his son to his old alma mater.

Everything seems all mixed up, but it all comes out right in the end. These films were a wonderful example of what people wanted America ... Read More

VHS : James Bond 007 Collection Volume 3
Not a bad collection of Bond material, however, this is a mix of various Bond movies with a variety of leading Bond actors. I recommend looking into the 1996 Collections that have the videos in chronological order and primarily by actor. JAMES BOND 007 Collector's Set, Vol. 1 includes all six Broccoli-produced Sean Connery Bond films, to include a 1995 documentary video. JAMES BOND 007 Collector's Set, Vol 2 includes all seven Roger Moore films and Timothy Dalton's first film. Although these sets are out-of-print, they are still available as used and collector's sets through Amazon.com's Marketplace. If you're like most fans, you'd prefer to have the movies that include your own favorite "leading-Bond-man"!

VHS : Bond: Live & Let Die
Roger Moore's maiden voyage as James Bond -- and the third different actor in the role in three consequetive films -- is actually a fairly entertaining movie with the usual set pieces, babes, and Moore's laid back performance. Tom Mankowicz (who wrote for both Connery and Moore) had the best observation. In the scene where Moore enters the Fillet of Soul in Harlem, if you have Connery you know there is going to be a fight. Jane Seymour's big break, Yaphet Koto as Kananga/Mr. Big, Julius Harris as his henchman "T" and David Hedison in his first outing as Bond's CIA buddy Felix Leiter. The first 007 since DR. NO not to be scored by John Barry, the music is courtesy of Sir George Martin (who produced the Beatles records) with a title song (and an energetic one at that) by Paul McCartney and Wings. A pleasant romp, I actually like ... Read More

VHS : Moonraker
It's hard for me to argue with people who hate Moonraker. It is the most cartoonish of all the Bond movies reaching its peak of silliness right off the bat with Jaws, returning from The Spy Who Loved Me, surviving a freefall from an airplane. The absurdity is made all the more tragic in that it follows one of, if not the most spectacular Bond opening in the entire series. Moonraker is a movie with sky high highlights and some pretty bad lowlights. The pre-credit sequence with Bond being shoved from an airplane sans parachute is thrilling and leads into the spectacular Moonraker theme sung by Shirley Bassey. This movie may have the best musical score of any of the Bond movie and that is no small feat.

Moonraker was created by some of the most talented people ever to work on the Bond films. John Barry produced the music, ... Read More

Of all the Bonds this is the most curiously overrated. While the later Moores are rightly regard as weak -- this one has its share of passionate defenders. I'm not really sure why. Though entertaining, it's slick and frankly a little shallow. It makes the prior two in the series seem positively naturalistic by comparison. Marvin Hamlish's self-conscious, obnoxious musical pastiches are dreadful -- they take you right out of the movie. Barbara Bach is robotic in what could have been an effective female lead. (I hate to say all this as Sir Roger in his charming commentary track says this is his favorite and I'm grateful that he recorded these.)
