VHS : Carmen Sandiego: Date With Carmen
--Two Carmen Sandiego videos are being released in November 2001. I hope this means that the producers are responding to the thousands of fans who protested when the five-time Emmy nominated and one-time winner "Where On Earth Is Carmen Sandiego?" disappeared from TV listings everywhere. For years they kept us loyal fans in suspense - wondering what was going on, exactly where on earth WAS Carmen, and wondering if the four old videos - rapidly disappearing from both video stores and Web shopping sites - were going to disappear for good. Well, that doesn't look like that's going to happen. --"A Date With Carmen" is a two-epsiode show which is fascinating. Carmen has discovered a way to time travel - she's going back in time to such U.S. history events as the Boston Tea Party - and changing the present ... Read More

VHS : Disney's Talespin - Imagine That!
What can I say about TaleSpin...it is simply one of the best cartoons ever made. It won an emmy for the "Plunder & Lightning" made for TV feature in 1990. But its fine quality goes largely unnoticed due to Disney's poor advertizing and marketing of this show. The characters are complex, the storylines are fast-paced and amusing (and occasionally heart warming), and the animation is top quality. TaleSpin was the first cartoon series to use the new medium of computer animation...it was used in the stunning airplane sequences. This is one of those rare cartoons that has a little something for everyone regardless of their age or gender.

The first episode on this tape is "Flight of the Snow Duck". Molly wants to go see snow so she and Wildcat sneak onto the Sea Duck as Baloo is taking off to Thembria. ... Read More

I know this was a box office bomb, but being the Treasure Island fanatic that I am I could not help but love it for its wildly creative retelling and the wonderful animation and spirit. I think that this film truly captured the emotional wonder of Robert Louis Stevenson's original story, if not the details (Then again, not too many movies exactly get the book correct). The soundtrack is incredible, perfectly piratey. The entire story is one of longing, angst, and change. So it may be a little moody, but it's a beautiful peace of art and Disney magic.

10.Las Locuras Del Emperador -Version Doblada Al Espanol De The Emperor's New Groove starring: David Spade, John Goodman, Eartha Kitt, Patrick Warburton, Wendie Malick

Where on earth do I start with this gem of a film?

When I first saw ads for it, I thought it looked like cheap Saturday morning fare. "Boy, has Disney gone downhill," said I to myself.

Then I watched it and ate my words.

I rarely laugh aloud at films. I laughed many, many times in this one. The humor is spot on. It's often random, but not so random that it loses sense of its context. It's delivered by fantastic voice actors. Yzma, Kronk, and Cuzco (especially Cuzco) give wonderful performances. When an actor can take a line like "Llama Face" and make you laugh until your lungs pop out, well. I think that's success.

It helps that the theme is heartwarming and is a part of the film rather than a tacked-on "moral of the story." The characters and setting are ... Read More
