This movie is top notch. True to life, with one exception, the mistress that Marshall had was a real bow wow!!!!!!!!!!!! Her father, Lester Glenn, in which this trial killed due to a broken heart, was the owner of a car dealership. Maria was beautiful, and Sarann was ugly, lets say howled at the moon!!!!!! The oldest son was on set as an advisor to the movie and made sure his mother story was told honestly, not like his low life father's attorney tried to protray her. I watched it then and would watch it again and again

This is a decent film that deserves to be re-issued on DVD. While not a big budget opus like infamous Mel Gibson's THE PATRIOT, this is a much higher quality film overall. While a bit slow in the beginning with family relationships in Lexington, the film picks up when the British at last appear on the screen! There is a nice shot of the British columm deploying impressively into line to face Captain Parker's company. The only problem here is that the British force at this point consisited of six companies of Light Infantry who jogged into town at a fast clip before forming line opposite the militia. This would have been less impressive to show, plus i guess the available re-enactors could not all be shown in Light Infantry garb. So we get the usual mix of line companies, Grenadiers and Lights ... Read More

My uncle of all people was the one that recommended this movie to me. At first I was skeptical but I rented it and loved it! Usually this type of movie is considered a "chick flick" but I think this particular movie caters to both men and women. It is a very romantic and tastefully done movie. I recently purchased the movie and sent it to my uncle as a "thank you" gift and he couldn't be happier.

VHS : Mistral's Daughter
First, Mistral had a legendary love affair with the mother (Maggie), then years later found his true love in her daughter (Teddy). I don't know what kind of emotion that would have created in the mother, nor would I want to know. But for the observer, the story is hard to resist.

Stacy Keach (Mistral) was allegedly battling substance abuse problems while this filmed. He was adequate, and perhaps would have been more so had it not been for the cocaine.

Lee Remick (Kate) was lovely on the outside, even if her character wasn't so lovely on the inside.

Stefanie Powers (Maggie) did a great job, but to me she absolutely should have been Teddy. I even picture her as Teddy as I periodically re-read passages of the book.

Lily Taylor (Teddy) was so miscast! I will ... Read More

The reviewer below claims there is a region Free (o) dvd available on Amazonuk. Don't be fooled. It is still in the PAL format and will not play on American/Canadian DVD players. The VHS is the only way you'll see this film until someone releases it in this country. Region O in the Pal format still means it's a PAL dvd. Don't waste your money like I did. It must say Region FREE all regions!!! Don't believe everything you read here!!!!
