Do not buy from this seller - false ads and bogus copies. I ordered what was supposed to be a NEW DVD and instead was shipped a BADLY BURNED COPY. And the seller never replied to my email - fortunately, Amazon has wonderful customer service.

VHS : No Time for Sergeants
No Time for Sergeants is a funny movie with Andy Griffith. It is good clean humor although it is in the Army. I would like to own this movie but am unable to locate it.

How can it be that Walter Matthau's best performance, especially a comedy performance, is not available on DVD? It's a shame, because this is arguably the most brilliant dark comedy from that wonderful golden age of grown-up films from the mid 60s to the mid 70s. This movie is way too funny and brilliant to be this undercover and cult. Elaine May is to comedy what Coppola and Scorsese were to drama. Her writing is as good as comedy writing gets, and her performance gives a glimpse at how wonderful a comic actress she really is. No B.S. either. This one of the great comedies. Can't believe it's not on dvd. Not to be missed. I remember seeing this on tv when I was a little girl and thinking, that is a wonderful world those two people live in. It played the midnight show in college and the crowd loved ... Read More

Paul Tibbets-Enola Gay both names that mean part of the history. This is an absorbing subject, carefully handled about the officer who piloted and drooped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima.
Even I think Taylor wasn't the most appropriate actor for this role, ( I just can think in three names for that moment: Robert Donat, Fredric March and Michael Redgrave) and the film surely would have elevated to a major status.
The only default to my mind is the real nightmare derived from this action; the awful sequels that surrounded the mind and personality of Tibbets are simply absent. There was a very long introduction showing the backgrounds.
A well supporting cast accompanied him. Good point for Melvin Frank.
Two years later after this film was released, the American journalist William ... Read More

This remake of the 1931 filmed version of Robert Sherwood's play about the doomed romance of a WWI military officer and a streetwalker, is a classic tragic romance that sanitizes the original, but is distinguished by lovely performances and exquisite black and white cinematography. It is really a pitch perfect tearjerker for the period.

Vivien Leigh is heartbreaking as ballerina turned prostitute Myra, and if possible, even more beautiful than she was in GONE WITH THE WIND. Her acting in WATERLOO BRIDGE is a far cry from the exuberance, and bold colors of a Scarlett O'Hara. Myra's emotional palette is muted, but the shifts from melancholia, to hopefulness, to despair are done flawlessly and show Leigh's great range as an actress. Robert Taylor as Captain Cronin is a fine romantic partner although ... Read More

VHS : Catered Affair
Dreary settings, dreary story, dreary moralistic ending. Bette Davis attempts a lower-class New York Irish accent, with little success, and there is absolutely no chemistry between her and Ernest Borgnine, doing a rehash of his Marty role with a bitter edge. Debbie Reynolds in a non-comic role is surprisingly good, but also unconvincing as the poor daughter of a cab driver. Barry Fitzgerald provides a much-needed spark of life, and, of course, is the only one with a convincing characterization. The story wraps up conveniently with the central characters having sudden, inexplicable changes of heart. Definitely a disappointment.

I purchased this movie for a friend from the Amazon market place seller and was holding my breath waiting to see what kind of shape a movie this old would be in when it arrived in my mailbox but to my surprise, it arrived in near mint condition. So my friend, who doesn't live near me, asked me to view the movie to make sure it was okay, I said "sure why not?, I hadn't seen it since it aired on TV, I'll give it a whirl!".

Well, in went the tape and aside from some tracking issues, which were solved with tracking controls, during the opening credits?, the movie played flawlessly in my VCR.

This is the story of Bubba, who was severely retarded, who befriended one of the local town girls of, shall we say, not of Bubba's physical age but anyways, some of the local townsfolk don't take a liking to Bubba ... Read More
