The story starts off a bit slow, but once you get into it, it's really a great little film for the entire family to watch. There's no cursing in it, no bad scenes and the acting is not that bad for unknown actors. The scenery is beautiful and it's just a great film about a family that's stranded on the Aleutian Islands that have to get off before winter sets in and a terrifying bear that's after them. Good family film to rent and/or to buy!

VHS : Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid
I watched this as a kid and still have fond memories of it.
I would love to have it on DVD.
I am a huge mermaid fan and I think this movie inspired it.
There is debate whether or not he imagined her or not.
I think in this movie she was real and he did experience all those things that happened.
The end where he gave his wife a hairpiece that belonged to the mermaid.
That tore me apart.
He was in love with the mermaid and yet felt the need to be " in love" with his wife.
He had to make a choice whether or not to stay with someone he fell in love with , someone that made him feel young, wanted, and loved.
Or to honor his marriage vows.
And build on his marriage again.
No other mermaid movie has ever captured the emotion or magic for ... Read More

I actually loved this movie, and liked it more than part 1. Part one hsd s little too much screaming in it and the scenic views were not as awesome as part 2. Just an enjoyable and entertaining movie to watch.

I am pleased and happy that I purchased The 3rd and final movie of The Wilderness Family. It was very well done and just as entertaining as the first and second movie. My favorite was the 2nd episode mostly because I love snow scenes and this one had many. I would have loved to see them carry out the beautiful music of the first two movies but other than that the movie was great. I will watch these over and over. I personally did not see anything about Boomer in this last movie that would make me question his integrity. I am so glad that I listened to the last review and believed it. Take a chance and get this movie. It will complete this beautiful story line for you.

VHS : That Forsyte Woman
I like Flynn, Garson, and even Galsworthy as much as anyone, but what were they thinking when they cast and wrote this movie? First of all we are to believe that Greer Garson is going to leave Errol Flynn for Robert Young? Who would prefer Marcus Welby to Captain Blood? Of course, we all know she is going to end up with Walter Pidgeon, anyway, but what woman in her right mind would choose Robert Young over Errol Flynn?

I suppose that Robert Young might have the edge because Flynn, transplanted from his native soil of Warner Borthers to MGM, seems to think that acting constipated constitutes great acting. Flynn tries to pretend to be as materialistic as Soames, but you know in his heart of hearts he is longing to chase starlets at the Brown Derby or Maid Marian in Sherwood Forest

VHS : Catlow
Catlow is a good western about the friendship between two men; Bijah Catlow(Yul Brynner)and Ben Cowan(Richard Crenna). Based on the novel by Louis L'Amour, Catlow tells the story of Cowan's pursuit of his childhood friend Bijah Catlow. Brynner as Catlow is completely believable as the amiable outlaw that L'Amour wrote about. Good action sequences and quick dialogue. Sometimes a little confusing if you haven't read the book, which is better than the movie. Watch out for a bizarre and unnecessary Leonard Nimoy butt scene! However Nimoy plays a decent gunman although he has very few lines.

As someone who grew up in Kenya in the 50s and 60s, I can attest to the fact that this film captures the feel and the spirit of colonial Kenya better than any other film ever made. The characterizations are excellent, and the story is both entirely believable and captures the nature of colonialism without being judgemental. The little boy in the lead role does an excellent job - you can fully empathize with him - and the late Bob Peck is, as ever, superb in the role of the local head of the police. More explanation was needed of the attitude of his wife, it was difficult to really grasp the thinking of the Mau Mau guerillas, and the ending was perhaps a little predictable. Overall though, this was a terrific film, and instantly gets slotted into my Top Ten of all time.
