I ordered this movie over a month ago. I'm still waiting for it to arrive. I've seen the movie before and liked it a lot. I'm looking forward to sharing it with my family (if I ever receive it).

VHS : Dial M for Murder
Alfred Hitchcock had already begun work on Rear Window when he took on the project to direct Dial M for Murder, based on the successful play by Frederick Knott. For the film, Hitchcock chose to cast his favorite leading lady of the time, Grace Kelly, as the embattled Margot Wendice. Kelly would also star in Rear Window and Hitchcock's subsequent To Catch a Thief. It wasn't Hitchcock's preference to shoot Dial M for Murder in Warnercolor 3D (the cameras were large), and the film is seldom screened in 3D, but Hitchcock's use of the technique is notable for its service to the story rather than just being a gimmick. In the film Margot Wendice is a wealthy heiress whose playboy husband, Tony (Ray Milland), recognizes his dependence on his wife's fortune. When Tony begins to suspect he is losing ... Read More

VHS : Darkwing Duck - His Favourite Aventures - The Birth of Negaduck
This video has two of the more interesting episodes of Disney's wild, weird, and wonderful cartoon series "Darkwing Duck". The first one is called simply, "Negaduck", and is one of the two episodes that feature the origins of Negaduck. When Darkwing is struck by a ray from a tron-splitter, it seperates his positrons from his negatrons (the building blocks of good and evil), and cause him to seperate into his good side and his bad side. The interplay between the "two Darkwings" is hilarious ("Violence never solved anything!" "Yeah, but it sure makes me _feel_ better!"), and the villian Megavolt is in rare form. He even helps Gosalyn and Lauchpad (friends of Darkwing) to get the two Darkwings re-merged into one. "Why would you help us?" Gosalyn demanded. "Because," answered Megavolt, "If the evil ... VHS : Lost Moment
Based on Henry James "The Aspern Papers", Robert Cummings head for Italy in search of the greatest poetic love letters every written to the mysterious Julianna (Agnes Moorehead made up as a very old woman). This pseudo-mystery is filled with images of light and dark in the murky old villa where Moorehead lives with her emotionless staid niece Susan Hayward who transforms magically at night into the beautiful Julianna. Hayward is almost childlike in her unworldlyness in both roles. She is in fact a dual personality. And when she begins to loosen up with the help of Cummings, things start going all wrong. Hayward's fantasy world is shattered. And she is also the best thing in this movie. In one scene where she is standing by the window and starts to unpin her hair is a marvel to watch as she changes to the lost ... Read More

VHS : Lucky Me
My wife and I are fans of Doris Day's and usually find that most of her movies are quality affairs. However, we found this movie to be a complete misfire and unworthy of Doris' talents. It seemed like a rush job in order to get the first cinemascope movie into release. The songwriting team that contributed a fine score for Calamity Jane for Doris came up empty in the inspiration department when they penned the tunes for Lucky Me.

The movie plays more like a circa early 1940's musical than a mid 1950's one, and is not nearly as sophisticated as other musicals of the period. All but a few jokes fall flat. The movie starts out quite well with a particularly cute, well-dressed and perky Doris singing the "Superstition Song" as she bops down the sidewalk of a beautiful city street in beautiful color while ... 7.Three Smart Girls Grow Up (B&W) starring: Deanna Durbin, Charles Winninger, Nan Grey, Helen Parrish, Robert Cummings

VHS : Three Smart Girls Grow Up (B&W)
In 1936, Universal Studios took a chance on a young girl singer named Deanna Durbin, first showcasing her in the beloved "Three Smart Girls", a movie which reversed the studio's flagging fortunes and established Deanna Durbin as the reigning juvenile box office star. Playing Penny, the youngest of the Craig sisters, she stole moviegoers hearts with her charming performance and soaring soprano voice. Three years later, Durbin returned for the first of two sequels - THREE SMART GIRLS GROW UP (1939).

The story opens during Penny's very first society party, where eldest sister Joan (Nan Grey) announces her engagement to long-time beau Richard (William Lundigan). Everyone greets the news with delight, except middle sister Kay (Helen Parrish) who, Penny later discovers, harbours a strong infatuation for her ... Read More

VHS : Darkwing Duck - Justice Ducks Unite!
It's Darkwing Duck's biggest case yet. Negaduck, Quackerjack, Bushroot, Megavolt, and Liquidator team up to take over and terrorize St. Carnard. And only Darkwing can stop them.

Or can he? When Gizmoduck, Neptunia, Stegmutt, and Morgana all offer to help, he turns them down flat. Then he walks right into a trap. With Darkwing out of the way, the Fearsome Five think they can run the city at will, and begin taking extorting all the cash from the frightened citizens. But can the Justice Ducks fight back and save the day? Will Darkwing come around to working with others?

This video contains both parts of this two-part episode. It's one of my favorites from the series. I always love watching Darkwing's ego get the better of him. These are my favorite villains from the series as well, so I love ... Read More

VHS : Darkwing Duck: Darkly Dawns the Duck
Darkwing Duck is the hero of St. Canard. Or he would be in the media would actually tell his story. Of course, since he just catches run of the mill criminals, there is little for them to report on.

All that changes when he crosses paths with Taurus Bulba. He's a master criminal using the perfect hideout, a jail cell. But he's concocted a scheme to steal an invention. He just needs the inventor's granddaughter to tell him the secret code.

Naturally, Darkwing can't have that. Reluctantly teaming up with Launchpad McQuack, he tries to hide Gosalyn from the villain. Can Darkwing save the day?

This video is the pilot episode, and provides some cool moments for fans of the show. We get to see how our three heroes met, and we get our first look at DW's hideout.

Of course, the elements ... Read More

VHS : Darkwing Duck - Comic Book Capers
This VHS has been out for pretty much 12 years now as of this writing, and the memories are still as how I remember them watching these when I was a kid.

Darkwing Duck was pretty much, next to Talespin, among the greatest shows Disney has created. Darkwing Duck came out during Disney's renowned "Golden Age" of animation back in the early 90's, and therefore had all the excuses to ride high, super-hero-with-a-twist, mass marketing (at the time) and good ratings.

This VHS is probably among the better of the other Darkwing Duck releases out there. There are two episodes on these, "Comic Book Capers" and "Brush With Oblivion". Still as fresh today as when released back then.

A great tape to own for your Disney collection.
