This is the story of one "patrol torpedo" boat, expendable forces used to attack the enemy to do the most damage at the lowest cost. The opening scene tells how JFK wrangled a fron-line combat position instead of an office job is some safe rear echelon location. There is soon a warm welcome to the front. JFK wanted to learn what they didn't teach at Harvard (like some other wealthy men). An air raid shows that danger is near. Can JFK get his boat in shape in a week? The commander is not a happy man. PT 109 needs work, and gets it to pass inspection. Its engines are old. JFK had a taste for chocolate candy.

Their first combat assignment is to help evacuate Marines from an island and provide covering fire. What if they run out of gas? Will help arrive in time? What happens if the ... Read More

The brothers (played by Strother Martin, Ernest Borgnine, Jack Elam)as mentioned in other reviews, are "slap stick" at times. Welch's make-up was too heavy for the time period, and her dress un-buttoned down her navel while she is cooking, was a bit much. With all that it is still a very good movie and Robert Culp's best acting. He could teach me to shoot a gun anytime!

One of the better Welch movies, I have this on VHS and have watched it over and over!

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST CHILDREN'S MOVIE WHERE EVEN THE ADULT'S ARE CARRIED AWAY. I AM ABOUT 60 AND I STILL ENJOY THIS MOVIE. YOU HAVE TO LOOK FROM THE EYE'S OF CHILDREN IT IS SO GOOD THAT YOU WILL FORGET THAT YOU ARE ADULT BUT WILL INJOY WITH THE LITTLE KIDS-THANKS TO DISNEY AND ONE OF THE LAST OF THE OLD LEGEND OF THE WESTERN WORLD JAMES GARNER-WE ARE PRIVILIGED TO SEE HIM IN THIS 21ST CENTURY LIKE THE OLD TOM MIX IN THE BEGINNING OF THE CENTURY WHEN HE WAS AROUND WITH REAL WYATT EARP GIVING HIM THE TECHNICAL DETAILS. I DONT WANT TO GIVE AWAY THE STORY WITH VAST OPEN SPACES AND THE SEA FOR THE CHILDREN WHO MAY HAVE NEVER EVEN SEEN THE SEA BUT THE HIGH RISE APARTMENTS OF CONCRETE JUNGLE.-I AM SURE THEY WILL ALL INJOY AND LAUGH AT THIS ADVENTURE TRIP-CURTSEY OF DISNEY FILMS.

VHS : Silent Night Deadly Night 3
And the Silent Night Deadly Night series is no exception. The grainy vid quality, the creepy low-quality music, the 80s clothing styling and styles, etc. Nothing beats 80s sequels. BUT I digress.

This entry of the SNDN saga features a brand-new protagonist, a blind girl who is haunted by nightmares of a couple murdered by a guy in a Santa suit while two little children helplessly watch. Turns out she is telepathically linked to Ricky (younger brother of the original SNDN killer, Billy) who somehow has been brought back to life a la Frankenstein by a crafty doctor (I'll note that Ricky is this time played, hilariously, by horror legend Bill Mosely and looks absolutely nothing like the actor who played Ricky in SNDN2).

Most of the movie takes place at the house of the protagonist's grandmother ... Read More

VHS : Sammy the Way Out Seal
Sammy The Way Out Seal is your average 1960s Disney family-animal comedy, with several effectively amusing comedy sequences and, probably due to Norman Tokar's direction, a uniquely aesthetic underwater swimming scene, as the 3 children, the seal, and a dog play in a suburban pool. Tokar directed episodes of Leave It To Beaver and several Disney movies including Big Red, Savage Sam, Rascal, and A Tiger Walks.

The story, similar to "Andre" 30 years later, is about a wild seal adopted by two boys played by Michael McGreevey (a Disney regular) and Billy Mumy (Dear Brigitte, Lost In Space, Bless The Beasts and Children).

Robert Culp (I Spy, Greatest American Hero) is the boys' father, and Patricia Barry their mother. Personally, I love the old station wagon they drive.

Strangely enough I got this DVD because I recently purchased a house in Hamilton New Zealand that was built by a local builder who was inspired by the Spanish style house in the movie. He built it in 1974 for him and his family. He and his wife seperated in the early eighties (probably had swinger parties, which as was shown in the movie always end in tears)Anyway I thought the movie was quite funny and the house is as groovy today as it was back then.
Cheers

VHS : The Great Scout and Cathouse Thursday
I purchased this video for the lovely and talented Kay Lenz, and found the funny story to be a plus. The movie has a wacky, drive-in feel, and to ride along is a lot of fun. Lee Marvin is very funny and holds the story together as he and Oliver Reed's characters try to claim their share of a gold strike from a crooked politician.

The surprise hit of the film is Reed, who plays Native American, "Joe Knox". Reed rarely goes overboard in the film, and is truly hilarious at times. Kay Lenz is a sweetheart as "Thursday", and displays a perfect blend of tenderness, comedy, and cuteness. Her 'morning after' scene with Marvin contains similarities to her wonderful film, "Breezy", and her seduction scene with Robert Culp is a highlight of the film. The look on the group's faces when she returns with the horses and supplies they need after ... Read More

Yeah it's low budget and yeah it doesn't have quite the novelty factor of the original since this is a sequel BUT taken on it's own terms this flick delivers fun shoot em up entertainment, sex appeal, humor, and even social commentary. I can't watch the first without wanting to check this one out. I noticed this got a bad review for not being porn. Go elsewhere if that's all you care for. There's nudity here though and it's very pleasant to behold. This IS what I was looking for: an enjoyable cult movie. Julie is so sweet! I adored her in this role. Danielle is sultry and perfect in her role too. Once again Angie is FANTASTIC in the role she made a cult classic in the first film. Culp is great. Hell the whole cast of this is great. Far better than it should have been if you bring your sense of humor and fun along for the ride.
