VHS : Lisztomania
I had wanted to see "Lisztomania" since first reading about it in the brilliant "Golden Turkey Awards" in 1980. True to its reputation, Roger Daltrey plays Franz Liszt in a highly stylized (major understatement) manner as an oversexed rock star, singing his way from one predicament to another and making an arch enemy of Richard Wagner, who exists solely to subjugate the world to Nazi Germany, and who is a vampire on the side. I appreciated that Wagner's hat said "Nietzsche," which made his philosophy somewhat evident early on. Nice touch, Ken.

In the midst of this bedlam Pope Ringo (I'm not kidding: Ringo Starr is the Pope, complete with eye patch and cowboy boots) makes Liszt attempt to convert Wagner to Catholicism in exchange for his (the Pope's) permission for Liszt to marry. ... Read More

VHS : Word a Musical Spectacular on Christ
This is one side of Rick that most of his fans are not fully aware of. Far from his progressive days, this is still truly great music. This is the television special filmed in Israel featuring an early version of The Gospels. It features an orchestra, choir, Tony Fernadez, Davy Paton, and Ramon Remedios. Overall, I enjoyed it more than The New Gospels and Remedios' vocals are easier to understand. The music is very powerful and beautifully presents the life of Jesus. There's no telling how long this will be in print, so order it now!

VHS : Very Best of Rick Wakeman
This video is a recording of a live performance in Melbourne Australia, from 1975. The full title of this video is "The very best of the Rick Wakeman Chronicles" The gem is certainly a full performance of "Journey to the Centre of the Earth".

Also included are: "Catherine Parr", Guinevere", "Catherine Howard", "Anne Boleyn", and a reprise of "The Forest" ( a segment of "Journey...")

The performances are legendary!! The video looks and sounds great for a live videoi from 1975 - fantastic job on the production end...

Rick Wakeman will be releasing a sequel entitled "Return to the Centre of the Earth" on Jan. 18, 1999, a live performance is planned, with a video soon to follow!

This is MUST HAVE video for all!!!!

Spectacular performance from a genuine maestro. The recital style of this concert was geared toward true appreciation of such rare brilliant talent. Mr. Wakeman's ancedotal chats provided entertaining background to some of the songs and past tours. The only complaint I have is there should have been more material included in this fantastic performance.

This is a good video record of one of Yes's concerts at their peak of popularity and arguably, their peak of musical greatness. The video and sound quality of the video is good for 1972. Steve Howe is showcased particularly well by this video. My main frustration, and main criticism is the conspicuous lack of justice done to Rick Wakeman; the video didn't even focus on him while he was playing his keyboard solo for Close to the Edge, one of the most memorable solos in progressive rock. Considering how few good videos available of Yes in the 1970's, it's a must-have for major Yes fans.
