VHS : The Thorn Birds - The Complete Miniseries
Overall well produced TV series and I watched intently with many emotions of passion, heartache, compassion, and joy for characters portrayed. The Stanwyk character was deplorable esp. with the line: on my mouth! YIKES!!! The aging process was well done for Cardinal Vittorio, Ralph, Grandma Fi, BUT Meggie looks more gorgeous every year, esp. the last scene, they tried to grey her hair, tho unevenly, during the same scene and nary a wrinkle....no biggie compared to her whisper yelling and flat dialogue, but very beautiful woman...Justine was prolly the worst cast in the series, waaay too wooden for a bohemian, maladjusted, wild child, head movements were even too stilted and not pretty enough to be Meggie's daughter...Dane portrayed the deepest expression of character as supported by the other ... VHS : Sweatin' to the Oldies 3: An Aerobic Concert with Richard Simmons
Having started my adventures in home work-out videos with Richard Simmons' Sweatin' to the Oldies, I promptly picked up this third "aerobics concert" in the "Oldies" series. This tape is considerably more difficult (and longer, at about 50 minutes) than the first Sweatin' to the Oldies, but it is still well within the grasp of a very overweight beginner like me. Like the others, it will take the viewer a few runs through to begin to get the moves down, as Richard gives pretty minimal cues. This tape begins with an easy warm up tune, followed by two easy-paced numbers to stretch and warm up the upper and lower parts of the body. Then the dancing takes off with four up-tempo dance pieces. The intensity of your work-out very much depends on the energy you put into it, and the many exercisers (of all shapes ... Read More

I do acknowledge that a lot of people enjoy this series of tapes/dvds and have lost weight using them, but I did not enjoy this workout. I have some of his other tapes (not in the Sweatin to the Oldies series) that I like much better!

This is one of my favorite exercise videos. It has awesome songs, and it is so much fun. It doesn't even seem like a workout - just fun dancing.

This is a good workout that requires the use of toning cords. Looks deceptively easy, but gives a good workout! It's around fourty minutes long, and I like that like most of his videos, he includes a variety of people of different sizes and at different levels of fitness. Makes you feel more at ease and like you're at a "real" workout, not working out with taped "models". Plus, it gives you the opportunity to view the workout at different levels of intensity, so you can modify it to your own situation! Just wish they would release all of these workouts on dvd!

VHS : Rough Night in Jericho

This is a very enjoyable movie for western buffs of the mid-1960's before Hollywood forgot 'how' to make good westerns.

The cast is sensational comprised of many seasoned and well known actors with one of my all time favorites, George Peppard, turning in a strong performance. George has the role of a man forced to take a hand literally in a battle for a town, one with which he tried to avoid. But Dean Martin plays such an unscrupulous and moral bankrupt part that ole Dino eventually brings the roof down onto his head through Peppard, whereby Dino loses everything.

This is a good way to wile away a few hours while being entertained, there just are no bad actors in this unusual and fine western. Great fun.

Semper Fi.

VHS : Stretchin' To The Classics with Richard Simmons
This video is the perfect way for me to ease into my day. I get up, put on the coffee, then pop in "Stretchin' To The Classics". The music is soothing and the stretching takes away that morning stiffness. By the time the tape is over 15 minutes later, I feel calm and limber. And, my coffee is just finishing.

I also use it sometimes in the evening when I get the urge to snack. Popping in this tape gives me 15 minutes to let go of that urge and replace it with a different type of feel-good.

The fact that there is no talking, just music, in this tape makes it particularly soothing. The moves are learned quickly without cueing because they are slow.

I have successfully used Richard's tapes for years beginning with the original "Sweatin' to the Oldies" from 1988. After countless playings, my old tape still works ... Read More
