VHS : The African Queen
What a work of art! This is one of the best movies of all time. When the spinster missionary woman (Hepburn) must TOLERATE Mr. Arnaut (Bogart)
in their life-threatening trip down the river in a beat-up old boat, The African Queen, the fun begins. She can drum up no respect for this man--until she realizes that he is an intelligent person who may be able to save their lives by his cool wit. He good naturedly sloughs off her constant criticism, while she endures his slovenly ways and colorful language. At some point they start developing a strong like for each other. When Bogie finally shaves, well you know romantic sparks are about to fly. Movies or stories do not come any better than this.

VHS : Avalanche Express
In the case of this weak cold war thriller(their label not mine), you find someone who sounds nothing like "star" Robert Shaw and use his bad impersonation of Mr. Shaw and then use long shots to hide the double used to fill in those scenes that he had yet to film. As for the "all-star" cast(Joe Namath, Mick Connors, and Linda Evans) the less said the better. I must have been very sick the first time I saw this to think it was good.

6.The Square Peg starring: Norman Wisdom, Honor Blackman, Edward Chapman, Campbell Singer, Hattie Jacques

Although I had seen the movie before, it had been awhile. Overall, still a great movie with some pretty good names in it. (Ben Afleck, Morgan Freeman). Both are very good actors imo. Although this came out before HD was really mainstream, still not totally yet, the BD version was a very nice addition to the library. Not exactly a blockbuster on graphics, sound effects, etc., but none the less, a great movie. I am amazed every time I put in a BD to see the differences. AMAZING. Although, I am not an expert, I do have my fair share of knowledge on HD and the like, definately worth it to me.

9.Desert Attack starring: John Mills, Sylvia Syms, Anthony Quayle, Harry Andrews, Diane Clare

VHS : Desert Attack
This is an excellent WW2 war movie set in the Western Desert of North Africa. It is the story of a group of British soldiers who must outwit the German Army and survive the desert in an attempt to return to British lines. One of the party is a German officer who is eventually found out. To survive the desert they all must pull together. Upon arrival in Egypt they have "An Ice Cold" beer "In ALEX" (Alexandria, Egypt). CAUTION....will not play on USA players....hopefully it will be released in NTSC and Region 1 format in the near future. It is a very good film of desert survival and honor between enemies.

10.The Spy Who Came in from the Cold starring: Richard Burton, Claire Bloom, Oskar Werner, Sam Wanamaker, George Voskovec

VHS : The Spy Who Came in from the Cold
There are already many well-written reviews for this classic B&W cold war film that stars Richard Burton as a broken-down,drunken and disillusioned field operative(read SPY).One of the best espionage pictures ever made--it holds up very well, even upon multiple viewings.Based on the John LeCarre novel of the same name;this is the film responsible for introducing me to LeCarre`s novels. As excellent as the movie is-I still reommend reading the book first!

Thanks for reading!
