1.Ski Patrol starring: Roger Rose, Yvette Nipar, Ray Walston, Martin Mull, T K Carter

VHS : Ski Patrol
Well this is definitely one of the weirdest snow ski movies I've ever seen. And when I first saw it, I tried to cross-referrence the characters in it compared to the ones in the Police Academy movies. It stars Roger Rose, Yvette Nipar, T.K. Carter, the late Ray Walston, and Martin Mull. Snowy Peaks I believe which is the name of this ski resort is where it takes place, and they are about to be evaluated on their performance, and when Martin Mull finds out about it, he tries to blackball their safety features so they can close down so he can takeover the ski resort and make his own resort, it's up to the ski resort to save it's reputation and keep it open. To me, the funniest part is the guy SUICIDE...the guy with a THREE part personality when he does the snowboard, and rocket skis and ... Read More

It has been a while since I have seen this film and I am little surprised that it seems to be out of print. I recommend this to anyone who wants to see a story of faith in action in the face of overwhelming odds.

3.Rooster Cogburn starring: John Wayne, Katharine Hepburn, Anthony Zerbe, Richard Jordan, John McIntire
directed by: Stuart Millar

VHS : Rooster Cogburn
Rooster Cogburn is a sequal to True Grit and in my opinion is the better of the two movies. One of the reasons is Kate Hepburn. This is a highly entertaining western where John Wayne and Ms Hepburn team up to capture the killers of Hepburn's father who have stolen a load of nitro glycerine to use in a bank robery. They are accompanied by a young Indian lad whose father was killed with Hepburn's father. This is a must-have for any John Wayne and/or Katharine Hepburn fan.

Love this movie, it's a classic. At the time it came out it didn't get the greatest ratings because of the other movies it was up against. If your a Clive Cussler fan this is a perfect movie for you. Not to mention it gives you a little background on the movie Sahara.

6.Dune starring: Francesca Annis, Leonardo Cimino, Brad Dourif, José Ferrer, Linda Hunt

I've previously owned the Lynch version on DVD and the epic, three hour TV version that was shown on the Sci-Fi channel on a worn-out VHS tape. When this new extended edition dvd was released I jumped at the chance to get it. The extended version gives you much more detail and insight into the characters than the Lynch cut. While I find that the Lynch cut is enjoyable in it's own right I prefer the completeness of the extended edition. The shorter version just seems too rushed with too many gaps.

7.Hunt for Red October starring: Sean Connery, Alec Baldwin, Scott Glenn, Sam Neill, James Earl Jones

VHS : Hunt for Red October
Some punk junkie named Sick Boy in the the Danny Boyle cult classic TRAINSPOTING espouses a "theory" of his in which he uses the career of Sean Connery to illustrate. Basically he believes that for everybody in life at one point you got it, then you don't. There's a period in your life, probably when you were younger, when you could have had *it* but then you loose *it* and are past your prime. Well, the other character listening to this was right to feel unimpressed by this cocky punk's disrespectful and plainly dumb understanding of human accomplishment. Sean Connery was the original and coolest James Bond but it was not all downhill from those glory days. Connery's performance THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER disproves Sick Boy's theory (along with a few others in his career btw). Alec Baldwin is also good, his take on ... Read More

This is a superb production! Richard Jordan's finest performance. Anthony Perkins is a remarkable Javert, managing to make him both reprehensible and sympathathic. Bravo!

9.Kingpin starring: Woody Harrelson, Randy Quaid, Bill Murray, Vanessa Angel, Chris Elliott

VHS : Kingpin
I've never been a huge fan of the Ferrelly brothers (they surely aren't the Coen's) but this film starred Bill Murray (or so I thought) and I just love him so I had to watch it at least once. Truth be told, Murray is hilarious here in every frame he's in, but sadly he's just not in enough. Woody Harrelson, and to a lesser degree Randy Quaid, are funny in their own rights here, but neither of them can truly carry this film and it isn't really until Murray comes onto the screen that my attention was gotten and I found myself fully amused.

`Kingpin' tells the story of Roy Munson, a young guy who quickly rose to the top of the bowling world due to his dynamic skill and training. When he makes enemies with the greedy Ernie McCracken he finds that all is not fair in love and bowling. After an altercation ... Read More

Tommy Lee Jones really did an exceptional job in this film, he really had me feeling sorry for Gary Gilmore. This is an excellent film, I highly recommend it.
