1.Wings starring: Richard Arlen, Clara Bow, El Brendel, Thomas Carrigan, Margery Chapin

VHS : Wings
A film that hits just about every human emotion in the repertoire and
does so surprisingly well, although there is some overeagerness amongst the callow youth. The biggest surprise of all, however, is just how
enchanting Clara Bow is as the very sexy girl next door. While obviously men's tastes in women differ, it is still rather difficult to believe that Charles Rogers wasn't at least infatuated with his next door neighbor. Clara's personality is just as attractive as her looks. Watching
her is by far the most pleasant part of the film. If only women were around like her these days...

VHS : Island of Lost Souls
I can only guess. It's not released due to hints of beastiality in the movie Island of Lost Souls??? IF so that's just rubbish.

Island of Lost Souls is a great, classic Friday night B&W horror flick that no collection should be without. Period. But we are forced to have a VHS or cheap bootleg. Mystery Of the Wax Museum is hardly a point of discussion here, a nice to have, but Island is a MUST HAVE!

Here is exactly what we need in a collection:
Island Of Lost Souls
Murders In The Zoo
House Of Horrors
The Mad Ghoul

Now how cool of a collection would that be???

HELLO Universal!!! Anyone home??

VHS : The Mountain
This is absolutley one of my favorite all time movies. Spencer Tracy plays an old famous Mountaineer who has retired to his modest home to tend sheep. Then an Airplane crash on a nearby mountaintop changes his life. His young greedy womanizing brother (Played by a very young Robert Wagner) gets him to lead a climb to the crash site.

It's also a good love story. The old man makes some very heart wrenching decisions.

The climbing scenes are very authentic for mid-1900 style climbing styles and I believe this is Spencer's finest movie. Some of the others actors aren't quite as good but I watch the movie at least once a year on VHS to rejuvenate me.

6.Minesweeper starring: Richard Arlen; Jean Parker; Russell Hayden

I'm surprised to find this old classic currently unavailable. If I wanted an authentic Western collection, this would be the place to start. Cooper defines his style here that he uses through out his brilliant career which includes his clumbliness with the ladies. While others have discussed in detail the plot. My favorite scene is early in the film where Cooper and his outfit are herding steers through town, and one happens to stray into a dress shop through an open door into the street. Cooper appoligeticly enters the dress shop on horse back to recover his property. Anyone who has had the job or privilege to herd cattle in unfamiliar places will most especially appreciate those moments. At the time the picture was filmed, there were many colorfull old time westerners around Hollywood to compliment the real life ... Read More

Richard Widmark has the leading role in director Edward Dmytryk's WARLOCK (1959), a bold, intelligently scripted drama for its day that even includes hints of homosexuality.

Warlock is a small frontier town that is being terrorized by an outlaw gang, led by Tom Drake. The desperate townspeople hire a well-known gunslinger (Henry Fonda) to get rid of Drake.

Along with his travelling companion (Anthony Quinn), a crippled gambler, Fonda brings order to the community, but then Widmark, a reformed member of Drake's gang, is hired as the town's legally appointed deputy sheriff.

VHS : Hostile Guns
A grade "B" western that deserves a "D" grade. It showcased a Tab Hunter as a young cowboy with a cocky attitude, but Tab was 35 by the time this western was made and in some cases he looked it. However there was excellent character interplay between Hunter and George Montgomery and Yvonne DeCarlo. The crooked railroad commissioner was a blowbag and played to the hilt. For a gang of cut-throats riding in a prison wagon on their way to Huntsville Prison, at times, they seemed like a cheerful lot. John Russell's portrayal as the inept brother trying to save his doomed brother from a hanging was awful. Two stars
