Thumbs down on this seller. I am very dissatisfied. I have bought many used items through Amazon and always had very good results with other sellers. I wrote to the seller and did not get a response. I asked for details on returns and no response. I asked for a refund and no response. Do not purchase from this seller. I am still waiting for action to be taken to resolve this issue. I rate this BAD (no stars).
I hope Amazon can help me with this problem.

VHS : Christmas in Connecticut
Bad direction keeps this movie from being good. In fact, even Barbara Stanwyck comes off looking awkward in some scenes. But she can never be truly bad. Her presence and a great supporting cast keep me watching this one again and again: (the usually weird) Sydney Greenstreet feels just enough out of place to be really fun, (the often overly cute) S. Z. Sakall gets to deliver all the sardonic jabs that keep the movie from being too sweet, and (the always wonderful) Una O'Connor is, well, just wonderful.

The one-reel extra, A Star in the Night, is the kind of pure Christmas schmaltz that will have any true holiday believers bawling on cue. And that alone is worth the price of purchase.

I've loved this gem of a comedy since I was a kid, and nothing else makes me feel better than dusting it off and watching it again with fresh eyes. Sharing the experience with friends seeing it for the first time is a particular joy, since many have never seen this wonderful comedy -- although they have heard the title. The talent of the actors and the sparkling script put this film head-and-shoulders above fantasy films of today.

VHS : The Man Who Came to Dinner
Way back, long ago, well not too long, but it seems long enough to me now at the age of 40, I was in the onstage play "The Man Who Came To Dinner" in highschool. I played the "glamorous actress", Lorraine Sheldon...quite a meaty part, indeed. We were a huge hit, and this is one of the many shows I've done that clearly sticks out in my mind as one of the most fun to do. The character was a wonderful opportunity for a rather shy around guys young woman to really stretch as an actress, and it gave me a lot more confidence as a young woman and a young actress as a result of my performance. I do miss the stage, and hope to go back someday. This is a wonderfully written script, and the movie is delightful...these kinds of movies simply are not made anymore, where you see true comedic genius in all of its forms, ... Read More

Now that ive seen this movie in color, im glad Louis b Mayer was cheap and
made all the previous Jeanette and Nelson movie in black and white.
Maybe one day they will be collorized and i will get both versions.
Sweethearts plays almost like the real life of this couple. Hounded down
all the times to perform, and the plots taken by their management to keep
them.
With color we now see Jeanette and Nelson in a different atmostphere.
We see more of the makup, and more things jump out because of the color.
Im so used to see them in different era costumes, that seeing them
as normal was kind of a shock.
Sooooo the movie sweathearts is good,,,but not as good as their other
movies together.

How can Jerry Lewis be a babysitter for a Hollywood starlet? This is the question you will find out when you watch this 1958 classic comedy. Jerry is a TV repairman when he receives the startling news that he is about to be a babysitter of TRIPLETS! I laughed out loud when I watched this on my DVD/Video player. You will enjoy every minute of this Jerry Lewis comedy from nearly 50 years ago!!

VHS : A Damsel in Distress
If ever a film deserved to be released on DVD, this delightful treasure should be DVD'd at once! It amazes me it is not yet released! Maybe the reasons are copyright issues or some such film business. Fred minus Ginger are more than made up for with George Burns and Gracie Allen who are hilarious. They also demonstrate their versatility in two dance numbers with Astaire and hold their own admirably keeping up with him! The "Stiff Upper Lip" number with the Fun House mirrors is among the most ingenious things I've seen in a musical and is alone worth viewing the movie. I own a barely viewable copy taped off Public TV in the nineties. One piece of trivia mentioned was that Joan Fontaine was paired with Astaire because he and Ginger's latest movie had 'fallen off a bit' at the box office. Fontaine' role is bland at best (her ... VHS : Marie Antoinette (1938)
Marie Antoinette of Austria (Norma Shearer) is to marry. Her King will be Louis XVI (Robert Morley) of France. Her excitement soon turns to dispair when she realizes that her new husband is the joke of the family with the inability to produce an heir. After years of solitude, she begins to enjoy her wealth by attending parties and galavanting with the royal family. Unfortunately, she puts her trust into the wrong people including those with a thirst for her power. Slowly, the people of France begin to act on their unrest and soon Marie Antoinette is void of a throne and in fear for her life.

Shearer seemed destined to play this role, and it is one of the films she is best remembered for. There is no doubt that her connections with studio head Irving Thalberg who was also her husband held some sway over her getting the part, ... Read More

VHS : Everybody Sing
Everybody Sing is the story of an insane family (all somehow involved in show business, which makes them a bit eccentric). The youngest daughter of the family (Judy Garland), has been expelled from four schools due to her intense adoration for jazz and swing music. She has a right to; that is the type of music she excells at singing, and we get to hear a lot of it. Her parents just don't understand, so they attempt to send her away again, but she escapes so she can join a musical describing her own feelings on music.

Judy Garland is wonderful here in a very early part where her eyebrows are still plucked down and her body has not been restrained to make her look younger. Despite how different she looks, her personality and voice shine through and prove that even at this young age, Judy was a force to be reckoned with. All of her ... Read More

VHS : Charlie Chaplin: Great Dictator
What a glorious, uplifting movie this is. A great cri de coeur against war and hatered, and in favor of tolerance and peace. That the message it presents is, by this point, somewhat of a given does nothing to diminish its importance.

You doubtless know of the plot by now. Charlie Chaplin, a man with a moustache suspiciously similar to a certain unpleasant fellow in history, plays the role of an anti-Semetic dictator named Hinkel and a poor Jewish barber. That these two look exactly the same is obvious. That the fact doesn't come in handy until the end is somewhat unexpected, but still great.

The movie avoids getting bogged down in all the obvious traps that await a film with content such as this. It doesn't become preachy until the very last couple minutes when the Little Tramp (not called that, but let's face it, he is), ... Read More
