VHS : The Trip To Bountiful
Very pleased with this movie. Stars Academy Award winner Geraldine Page. The special feature is interesting too. Story about how a little old lady outwits her evil daughter-in-law to go home one last time. Very watchable.

VHS : Hand That Rocks the Cradle
The Hand That Rocks the Cradle is all about Rebecca De Mornay in what I consider her best role and performance to date. What makes her character all the more scary is not only the fact she is beautiful but because she behaves so cool, calm and collected from one manipulation to the next. As we watch this devious nanny chip away at the perfect family she should have had, we long for her to be dispatched. De Mornay does not go over the top (with the exception of the bathroom stall scene), but plays it more subtle which proves to be just as effective. Through her cold, piercing blue eyes, evil facial expressions and the sinister tone of her voice when making threats, it's obvious you do not want to get on this lady's bad side. Rebecca plays the part to perfection and had she not been in this, we would have ... Read More

VHS : The Three Musketeers (Walt Disney Pictures Presents)
When I first saw this movie, I liked it. The Dumas's fans can object that this movie is not a screen version of his novel. And I will say - that's why it's good. If you show The Three Musketeers with dramatic end to the child, he will be upset. But Disney studio made this film precisely for children of 10-13 years old. Who minds a happy end?

VHS : Runaway Train
I saw this many years ago and found it on sale recently. It is a superb movie, one of the best! The scenery is breath-taking, the plot rivoting, acting is top notch, and has a startling ending. There is also some rough language from the prisoners in the jail and the escaped convicts which I could have lived without, but it is realistically done.

Two prisoners escape from a maximum security prison and hop on board a train whose engineer dies, leaving the train as a runaway with nobody on board able to stop it. Jon Voight turns in a tour de force performance as convict Manny, a fierce, crazed individual running from himself. His tag-along buddy, Buck, is an obnoxious fellow who is trying to ingratiate himself with Manny, but is not really a hard core con. They are joined by Sara, a train ... Read More

VHS : Winner
This movie is entertaining in the simplest of senses, and I enjoyed it the first time I watched it at that level all the way till the end, alluded at in another one of the reviews, this hinted at something more than the surface plot. I'm not a conspiracy theorist and in most cases, I watch movies to be entertained and love explosions and machine guns and car chases, but this movie has more than that. At each turn and twist is the underlying plot of the battle for a man's soul and forces struggling for that all too precious commodity. If you've seen it, watch it again, if not, pick it up. It's a winner.

VHS : Risky Business (1983)
One of the real gems of this new 25th Anniversary DVD set is "The Dream is Always the Same": The Story of Risky Business. This documentary provides great insight into all the hurdles Risky Business encountered on its way to the silver screen, with interviews with all the main cast members and Paul Brickman.

The other great addition to this 80's classic is the original ending that Paul Brickman wanted the audience to see in the film. The original ending, as shot by Brickman, had Joel Goodsen being shown as the strong one and Lana the weak one. However, the studios wanted a happier ending and changed it before it was sent to theaters.
