This was NOT the "feel good movie of the summer" like the box advertised. Or maybe I was thinking of "The Mighty Ducks". Either way, I probably only laughed through about half of this.

VHS : The Prince of Egypt
This 1998 animated smash hit musical about the Biblical Exodus combines all the drama, authenticity of costumes and location, and emotion of the time period from whence mankind was ultimately given the Ten Commandments.
The commencement provides a view of an initially arid, serene, and timeless place whose calm is abruptly shattered by the brutality of the ancient Egyptian slave system and the anguished Israelis nearly crushed under its weight.
The voice of the late Israeli folk singer Ofra Haza takes over from the gospel choir's vocal lament of the Hebrew's plight, as the young slave mother Yocheved, who along with her older son and daughter (the latter of whom is voiced by Eden Riegel) scurry to protect their infant son and brother from legalized infancticide.

"The English Patient" is a curate's egg among the Academy Awards. It's an artistically beautiful, sensual film though at times it's slow and bogs down. It has a talented ensemble cast, and lush settings in the North African desert and the Tuscan countryside.

A nurse,Hana (Juliette Binoche) finds a terribly burnt Hungarian nobleman,Laszlo Almasy (Ralph Fiennes) At the same time, she is caring for a thumbless artist,Caravaggio (Willem Dafoe),and has met a handsome Sikh (Naveen Andrews) While she reveals Renaissance murals, she also gradually reveals connections among the men she cares for. On a mapmaking expedition,Almasy fell for a beautiful married woman (Kristin Scott Thomas, with Colin Firth as her husband) They carried on a brief, passionate affair. Like a mirage,it faded. Their affair was an oasis ... Read More

Although this movie is beautifully filmed, I felt disappointed in the end and wished that I hadn't spent three hours watching it. It is interesting from a historical point of view, but there is only one genuinely good character in this movie (the father) and he dies fairly close to the beginning. Other characters seem to change drastically with no explanation. You have to sit through a gruesome torture scene and several incredibly ridiculous sex scenes and to me, in the end, it just wasn't worth it.

I loved this movie, man. However I can't give it anything higher than a single star. It could have been great but for one very important issue. The Centurion who is present when the earthquake occurred during Christ's crucifixion states "Truly this was A Son of God!" WRONG! Read the Bible my friends, the Centurion said: Matthew 27:54 "Truly this was THE Son of God!''

Whether this was simply a misspoken or flubbed line, some slack oversight by the writer, or an intentional, calculated misrepresentation of the Word of God designed to throw confusion into the mind of the viewer.. I don't know. If I had been working on this project and I'm sure this movie was proof-edited before being released, I would have caught that. Man, when that scene came up it literally hit me like a ton of bricks, man. Did he just ... Read More

Only Aardman could have come up with a storyline as funny as this one. One of the funniest movies of all time. Not only is the movie very funny but the bonus tracks are hilarious! Well worth the money. Your kids will watch it over and over.

Excellent all-rounded movie depicting both history and the very good performances of both Fiennes and Siddig. The flaw in the movie is the very weak Arabic of Siddig and other arabic speaking characters in the movie.

A good simple "escape" film. I have always found the photography on deserted London streets (or English country roads) intriguing.

What started as a religious tale rapidly disintegrated into sin of commission. Filmed in the English countryside where the weather is infinitely damp and dreary. Oscar Hopkins grows up into a tainted Anglican priest who met his fate on a floating church. The rivers there are so narrow a healthy boy could jump from one bank to another.

Grown and in higher education, he became involved in gambling as an off-shoot of his wild influencial friends who enjoyed corrupting him, like Justin. He became a pathological gambler. Some of the tale was hard to understand as those Australians talk funnier than the British. Cate Blanchett, an American, portrayed the grown Lucinda as an innocent manueverer who met Oscar on the boat and confessed to him as a priest, about her fascination to play dice and cards. He understood her fascination as ... Read More
