VHS : Pokemon - The Movie 2000
Pokemon The Movie 2000 is the second theatrical film for the Pokemon franchise. Before the film, there is a short titled, "Pikachu's Rescue Adventure." The actual film revolves around three Legendary Pokemon (Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres), and how a Pokemon collector is trying to capture all three of them in order to capture Lugia (the "Great Guardian"). Ash ends up being the "Chosen One" referenced in a legend, and it's up to him to save the day.

This DVD release of Pokemon The Movie 2000 has some special features. First, there is an extra labeled as, "Soundtrack Live." This includes live performances of Dream Street's "They Don't Understand," Alysha's "Dreams," and Youngstown and Nobody's Angel's version of "Pokemon World." There is also a two-minute documentary about ... Read More

Pokemon is the greatest show ever. It can teach us sime valuable life lessons, such as who to trust. However, if you want Pokemon DVDs, you should not get this one. The 3rd season episodes all have the same plot, and "Forest Grumps" is one of the worst Pokemon episodes ever. I suggest buying DVDs from the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th seasons, but NOT the third season. This DVD gets 1 extra star for "Fowl Play", which is one of the only decent episodes in the 3rd season, but "Love, Totodile Style and "Forest Grumps" are not worth it. If you insist on getting 3rd season episodes, get the Gym ones and "Midnight Heroes".

I love pokemon, and have loved it for a long time. This does include the episode "Holiday Hi-Jynx" a banned episode. Actually, George was wrong on some things. The episode "The Ice Cave" and "Holiday Hi-Jynx" were banned for the same reason. I first noticed something strange when i looked at the back. If you notice, Jynx has a purple face, as she does in the latter of the pokemon games. However, in the cartoon, all of the Jynx have black faces. These episodes, though to contrary belief that "The Ice Cave" was banned due to the relativeness to SARS, were banned because like Mr. Popo from Dragonball Z, Jynx has a black face. "Blackface" is a racial disimination issue. You may want to search google on Jynx, Blackface, or Black Face, for more information on this. There were issues with this, which led to Nintendo ... This part 6/10. "Pokemon Heroes" really stuck with me after I watched it. It also has a great rewatchable factor. I do think the obvious reference to Annie Oakley was corny though. Who would ever name their daughter Oakley? Latias and Latios are interesting. I like having two main characters with this one. The connection between the two made this a great watch. The likelihood to Venice was great. I loved watching the race through Alto Mare at the beginning. Definitely a good comeback for Pokemon.

I can't really add too much to the great reviews already written for this series except a few things:

1) If you watch this series English Dubbed, you won't enjoy it as much. The actors do a good enough job (which in itself is unusual in an anime show), but the ages aren't correct - hearing college-aged voices coming out of the mouths of adolescents really ruins the setting, at least for me. And while the evil Hando is clearly insane in Japanese, he just sounds too over the top in English - like a video game villain or something.

2) The price for each volume is so low for used copies (in some cases NEW), that any anime lover NEEDS to get these volumes now. I think the series is that good.

3) While watching this first volume, I felt some deja vu during the second episode - an usurper ... Read More

VHS : Now and Then Here and There - Flight and Fall (Vol. 2)
Volume 2 of Now and Then gets off to a harrowing start as Sara, a young American kidnapped by Hamdo's forces and repeatedly raped by one of his soldiers, takes revenge and then flees into the desert! Because the king obliterated many of his own forces in a recent battle, he sends out his remaining troops to forcefully draft men from the surrounding villages. Add to that women to impregnate! Shu revolts against this and is thrown back into the dungeon, where his fate may be sealed, unless one of his fellow soldiers helps him out! After all, he still has to rescue Lala-Ru!

This anime is beginning to hold a rank with one of my favorite shows, The Twelve Kingdoms, in terms of character development and moral authority. There are people just like that mad king Hamdo, living and killing in our world. While his behavior is a little ... Read More
