I have watched this movie more than 20 times. It represents honesty, pride, power, and determination molded all in love and care. This movie is not for everyone. It is for men of ethics, tradition, and determination.

"They laughed at him, Mississippi. That'll make the difference." -- Wayne to Caan regarding Mitchum

Director Howard Hawks once again hooked up with John Wayne to revisit the moral codes and deep loyalty of good men to others who live by this code. As in nearly all films made by this great director, the theme of women being the downfall of good men who still cannot live without them remains prominent. This remake of Rio Bravo is fabulously entertaining and as such stands as one of the truly great films in the genre.

Wayne may indeed be marvelous here in one of his best performances, but he has stiff competition from Robert Mitchum and a very young James Caan. The mere fact that Hawks could assemble such a cast is in itself astounding. To have Robert Mitchum and ... Read More

VHS : The Pursuit of D.B. Cooper
This is a good action film. Lots of fun. I was the Location Manager on this picture and we made two moves while filming. WE shot about half the film in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and the other half in Tucson, AZ. Believe it or not, when Treat William jumps out of the plane, he actually lands on Mt. Lemmon here in Tucson. I had lots of fun working on it and I think it turned out really good. If you like older, action films with lots of humor, you will like the film. Something to look for...The rapids were in Jackson and when they went over the falls, that was actually done...with doubles, of course. Also, we rented the Baseball Padres 727-100 and I had to get permission from the FAA to open the back so he could jump out. You will have fun with this film and I recommend it highly.

I loved westerns since I was a kid. John Wayne was king for me when it came to the western genre. I believe two new stars have risen on the frontier; Tom Selleck and Sam Elliott. They both have made several movies and everyone of them John Wayne would watch, if he could, and enjoy.

This is a clasic movie starring Terance Hill. You will not be disappointed. ZKinda goes along side his Trinity movies

7.Ballad of Cable Hogue starring: Jason Robards, Stella Stevens, David Warner, Strother Martin, Slim Pickens
directed by: Sam Peckinpah

VHS : Ballad of Cable Hogue
Confounding expectation, Peckinpah's follow up to "The Wild Bunch" is a broad comedy. The humour is on a pretty juvenile level though and a scene in the middle where a drunken priest (David Warner) consoles a grieving woman is particularly idiotic and demeaning to women (one could write a whole thesis about Peckinpah's misogyny and generally warped attitude to women). Despite this, Peckinpah does recreate the atmosphere of an old Western town and extends the boundaries of the Western genre.

VHS : Payback (1994, Unrated/Special Director's Cut, SP)
The other reviews of this movie are way too kind. There is very little "steam" in this movie. Not a bad plot, but let's be honest, that's not why we watch these direct to video / cinemax softcore movies. Joan Severance does look good as usual. However, the erotica scenes are few and far between and there is virtually nothing more revealing in the unrated version so don't spend your $ here. Joan looks at her best putting on shiny white thigh highs underneath a tight yellow dress, but nothing happens with her and this luscious outfit. A complete waste. This is bound to disappoint so don't be misled by the other reviews.

VHS : LBJ:The Early Years
This VHS production of LBJ: The Early Years is an educational docu-drama about the 36th U.S. President in the years leading up to his assumption of Office following the tragic assassination of his predecessor, President John F. Kennedy. This film reveals the LBJ that few Americans recall in popular conversation. It dramatizes his influential rise in popularity and political power. After seeing it, you'll come away with a different perspective apart from the popular one about an embattled President mired in the protracted Vietnam conflict.
